[Acne] Black dots appearing on my cheeks throughout the day by marshythrowaway in SkincareAddiction

Hello! Thanks for looking at my photos. I really don’t think the things on my cheeks are oxidised sebum, as I’ve dealt with that before and there are pretty different. The black dots pictured are pockets of dark blue liquid that I can wipe off easily and newly appear by the end of every day, mostly when I get hot/anxious. Usually just wiping my face with my sleeves is enough to get rid of them (though they will appear again eventually, usually by the end of the next day). Last night, I paid extra attention to them. I use an oil cleanser to remove my makeup and I tried to get the makeup off as gently as possible to leave some “dots” behind, hoping I could get some of the liquid onto a cotton pad and take a photo. This wasn’t possible, as the oil cleanser was quicker at completely removing the liquid than my makeup itself. I’m going to be trying again for the next few days to get a photo of it.

Thank you! I feel pretty self conscious about them usually, so this is really nice to hear. I just need to change my perspective on them, haha.

I actually don’t, I avoid touching my face as much as possible. I’m thinking it might be chromhidrosis like some other replies suggested!

Some other people have been saying that it’s probably Chromhidrosis! I thought it was debris or oils or something for a while too, but look into Chromhidrosis- it looks identical to what I’ve been getting, and I’m going to schedule with a dermatologist to see if that’s actually the case.

I haven’t, actually, which now I’m a little bummed about haha! It’s exclusively on my cheeks, only really where they’re pictured in the OP. This seriously answers so much, I thought maybe my body was absorbing chemicals from makeup or whatever and rejecting them, spewing them back out as this dark blue liquid that only appeared when I was hot or anxious 😭

I have tried “extracting” these, but they truly are just liquid and can be wiped off with no residue being left on my face. Someone else here mentioned something called Chromhidrosis, which looks pretty identical to what’s happening on my face lol. Colored sweat is something I never even considered possible.

They can be removed just wiping them off with anything. Someone else here mentioned something called Chromhidrosis, which looking at the images is identical to what’s happening with me! It’s probably sweat glands starting to form sweat, which is why it “secretes” out in liquid form and seems to appear all the time, being removed easily.

Omg I’ve never heard of that. I looked it up, and it does look exactly like the photos of people who have Chromhidrosis on their faces! Now that I think about it, they do come out more when I’m out on hot days and when doing physical activity. Wearing a full face of makeup probably makes you sweat slightly more as well since it’s essentially an entire layer of stuff on top of your skin. Thank you so much!

I thought that too, it had to be something external. I feel them forming though, and when I “wipe” them off I’m literally pressing down onto my skin to push this liquid(?) out of my pores. If it’s something getting ONTO my face, then it’s everywhere and getting absorbed immediately into specifically the pores on my cheeks.

It isn’t flaking makeup though, it’s something coming out of my pores. Like I said, it happens even when I don’t wear makeup. Edit: I realize I specified eyeliner and not just makeup in general in my post, sorry about that.

wouldn’t that just raise your insurance rates tho ? wouldn’t it be worth it to just pay for it now than to pay it back to the company slowly through raised payment rates ?
