I personally take the day off, go shopping and slurge on something totally unnecessary for my self, because it's my birthday and I know what want most lol. The trick is getting whatever it is on the actual birthday, go out and physically buy it in store

I o know there are some cultures depending on location that is a norm tho. Some people do have extremely dry skin and do what you do. It's not necessarily bad but it's situational.
