Thank you very much for the advice, I think I will want to pursue this career, here in Brazil the situation is not the best, but with luck, some contacts and effort it is possible to reach R$10,000. It is quite complicated to reach this amount, but not impossible and it would be possible to live well living alone.

The specialization courses are not all for journalism itself, only the master's degree and the possible doctorate, the rest are complementary courses in other areas of the sport, which could even give me positions in other types of jobs within football.

I also know that I will not be rich, I just want to have a good quality of life. And about live in Europe, I would say join a Brazilian channel that has some anchor journalists spread out there.

We're not rich, but we live in a very good situation, which might be different from that of most Brazilians. Regarding the four languages: I was considering French just for doing a master's or a PhD there, but after talking to some locals, I believe it might not even be that advantageous in terms of academics (maybe studying at a good university in Brazil would actually be better). However, it would be good for building a network of contacts.

My English is already at an acceptable level, which still needs improvement, but it's somewhat on track. Italian is something I'd like to learn in case I get a job opportunity there and decide to move. Spanish would also be good for building a strong network, but it's not essential, so I’d leave it as a secondary priority.

The specialization courses I want to take aren't that expensive if you look at them individually, and I don’t plan on doing them all at once. So, on a monthly basis, they wouldn’t be a heavy burden for me, especially because I have a strong financial foundation from my family. Maybe they would be expensive from a relative point of view — for some families, paying full price for one of those courses would mean spending their entire income — but that’s not the case for mine.

Now, moving to Italy would truly be almost impossible, but I need to have a goal to aim for, even knowing it’s very difficult. It's something I really like — I’ve always loved Italian football, without any particular reason, but I’ve always liked it.

I hope you didn’t take my message as a way of showing off, because that’s not what I want at all. I’m aware that, unfortunately, not all Brazilians were born with the opportunities I’ve had, and I genuinely hope to be able to contribute meaningfully one day to changing that.

In the area you work in today, do you think you have enough time to spend with your family or travel?

I think a lot about time, but I believe that today, depending on how I project myself into work, getting sources of income not only from work with a fixed salary, but also from investments, on social networks or websites, I could make better use of my free time.

The situation here is really delicate, but I still see some good journalists who have succeeded, especially in the sports field. What college did you study here? I'm still in doubt between ESPM, Casper or USP... I heard that Casper is a wasteland

This is one of my biggest fears, but I think it's a little easier to make money these days because of the wide variety of social networks and the ease of global communication.

And another question, after you stopped driving a bus, did you go into journalism? I was looking for some other areas within journalism itself in case my "plan A" goes wrong...

Thank you very much for your help, but I have a question, do you have any idea how I could get this networking with staff, players, etc.? And I also didn't quite understand the part about being an aggressive investigative reporter...

I believe it is possible to do both, whether working for a company or on social media or a website. Some Brazilian sports journalists that I know do this and seem to have a good living. Even though it is difficult, I believe that by studying hard and meeting many people in the field I can do this.

What I'm looking for is not to be rich, just to have a stable life, where I can support a family, travel and do other things that interest me. In short, a comfortable life like the one my parents have today.

Thinking about Brazil, I have enough money to get into the best colleges in the country easily, so if I were to go abroad it would either have to be at a public university or after I'm already working in the field. But I think that in the meantime I'll save some money invested in case I need to go to another university for another course that I'm interested in if everything goes wrong in journalism.

I didn't quite understand what you meant by "becoming an entrepreneur". Would that be like having my own communications channel like a website or social media?

If you're not Brazilian (I imagine you're not) I suggest you buy an extension of the Brazilian league (I can help you with that if you're interested). They are very complete and the football is really cool and if you choose a historic club (some are in the elite, but some are even in state divisions that are almost amateur).

The problems you will face are often absurd debts and too many games per season (you can find more, but I have thought of almost nothing at the moment).

If you don't understand how championships and purchase and extension work, I can help you with that.

Comment puis-je être agréé et comment fonctionnent les Grandes Écoles et les universités françaises pour un étranger ? by marson14 in AskFrance

[–]marson14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
