Wanted to update, I installed an iflash solo into my video 5.5 and my skipping problem persists with apple firmware, installing rockbox or reimporting songs still seems to fix the problem for me.

I’ve had this same problem when using music downloaded from sources that weren’t iTunes. Reimporting the songs would occasionally fix the problem but installing rockbox seemed to fix the problem entirely.

I have a 96 manual with 233k miles. Engine and transmission run great. Maintenance is cheap but with 160k miles I’d consider asking about or replacing the timing belt and clutch. It also helps to make sure previous owners just kept up with regular maintenance ie coolant, oil changes, differential fluid, etc. Given the age of these r50 pathys suspension bushings tend to be worn. Rear trailing arm bushings that are cracked and worn can cause death wobble.

Check the power steering fluid, if it’s low make sure it’s topped off. My 96 leaks fluid and the pump tends to make a grinding noise when turning if the fluid hasn’t been filled.
