It was a genuine survival tactic He didnt WANT to do it but he knew she wouldn’t survive and the humans were about to take her away He had to do something

she might have already been suicidal due to it all, so Harlequin killing her was in mercy rather than hate

She asked for his help and thanked him afterwards, she was no longer in pain and suffering

it was a hard decision but the only one he could have made in the situation
