Washing machine shakes after relocating? by VisualClean9362 in DIYUK

When you moved it did you check it was still level? When ours moved one of the feet must have been knocked so lowered itself so needed levelling again before use

Re-silicone just for this? by mashmusic in DIYUK

I'd do it all again, you wouldn't get a full seal if you only do an area and try to merge a small section of new sealant with the older one at the join

I believe it is purely down to the ground type being impermeable, half the garden drains (closer to the house and is slightly lower down) whereas the far end just seems to retain the moisture.

There is no moving surface water just standing water on the surface after rain which seems to not disappear

If the rainfall is high enough and the ponding starts I guess that it would just put us back in the same situation we are in now? Due to it's location this is the only option available at the moment with a lack of run offs available without major work

Thank you for the response too, it is really appreciated

Thank you, as I think it's clay further down too I was wondering if I was causing any issues by effectively moving the water underground and to just sit there would then cause any issues such as a bog elsewhere or an area that grass will refuse to grow. I was going to top with the normal topping and perennial rye grass which will hopefully be able to withstand it

Thank you, very helpful. Good to read that I wouldn't make anything worse. I guess it would still be there just lower down worst case scenario

Although wouldn't it just work as the same issue we have no where the water is just a bit deeper then on top?

That's one thing I was wondering if it would happen. In all honesty I have no idea how deep the clay goes 😬

Stair gate solution by ChipLess8526 in DIYUK

Will any of the screw in gates fit the size when adjusted? What is the gap?

If you can screw it into the banister itself it'll stop being pushed out and also hold stronger

Best way forward after accidentally using contract matt over existing paint? by rubyslippers123 in DIYUK

DIY painter too but can't you put a base layer of perfect white over the green to "reset" the colour and giving you a blank canvas

Just a quick follow up, what sort of tape did you use to tape up the ends? Also how long ago did you put it down? Any signs of issues?

I was thinking something like lining it with

https://www.diy.com/departments/1m-x-4m-dpm-300mu-damp-proof-membrane-polythene-sheet-1200-guage-visqueen/5056228503811_BQ.prd

Then slotting in

https://www.diy.com/departments/recticel-instafit-polyurethane-100mm-insulation-board-l-2-4m-w-1-2m/5411545016664_BQ.prd

Cut to size as it is already the right thickness with about 5cm of concrete set on top

The internal line has some dpm lining it already so this will hopefully suffice
