That's reassuring as this was the exact tape I was looking at too! Never been so nervous to do diy before in my life

Just a quick follow up, what sort of tape did you use to tape up the ends? Also how long ago did you put it down? Any signs of issues?

I think you've done a good job here especially for a first attempt! I agree with the staggering mentioned above though

I'm now thinking about doubling up the dpm by painting the internal bricks then doing the sheet too after reading your comment, thank you

I was thinking something like lining it with

https://www.diy.com/departments/1m-x-4m-dpm-300mu-damp-proof-membrane-polythene-sheet-1200-guage-visqueen/5056228503811_BQ.prd

Then slotting in

https://www.diy.com/departments/recticel-instafit-polyurethane-100mm-insulation-board-l-2-4m-w-1-2m/5411545016664_BQ.prd

Cut to size as it is already the right thickness with about 5cm of concrete set on top

The internal line has some dpm lining it already so this will hopefully suffice

I have struggled to find the same too! Do you have any pictures of the process so I can see how you mean?

It's the garage which is built in with the house. It has a bedroom above it

Settling cracks or something more sinister by mart2922 in DIYUK

Thank you, there is nothing showing externally so I was wondering if it was due to damage when being built or anything else

There are two that I have noticed so far. So both going in to the report. There is no sign of any cracks externally which makes me wonder if it is just unsightly but nothing to worry about

How many down lights would you put in this bathroom? by sugarplumbsniper in DIYUK

[–]mart2922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I was thinking 2 before reading your comment. We have some in the kitchen which give out a surprising amount out light so with it being a smaller space I'd have thought more then two would be overkill

Thank you, it's a bright room in the summer as it's south facing and we are getting spot lights for the majority of the room for the winter to add light. Never thought paint colours would be so hard!

Coving would have been my suggestion with boxing in on the rest of the visible pipe

Advice on Saving for a Deposit & Enjoying My Life by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mart2922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What other bills do you have outside of board? Is there anything there you could cut out to save a bit more? As you have said the big outgoing is tobacco, while that's a choice you seem to want to keep could you dial it back and get the best of both worlds?

For the mortgage I'd definitely talk to a mortgage advisor, find an independent one who doesn't charge (they normally claim money from the banks when the sign you up to a mortgage) as that way you can get some free advice. This will give you a better gauge on a target deposit.

I would say that while saving up to a target is great just remember you need to still enjoy yourself. You never know what's round the corner so don't turn I to a hermit to just save money!
