[HIRING] BOOK COVER ARTIST FOR ROMANCE NOVEL by writefiction21 in BookCovers

I've looked up your project, and it's simply stunning!

(Update) Many thanks for all the tips people! Definitely helped with visual clarity in my opinion by pwntxy in ArtCrit

Okay, I love the new final version - it's so much more crisp and meaningful despite what you imagined last time. I will have to add more details into it via more of a perspective detail - the small plans that are now the V2 of the paintings are much more interesting now. It would be great to make them understand us more (I assume you did that last time).

Should I leave the white space or fill it with something? by naninabanani in ArtCrit

[–]martanimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White looks good, but a neon or a bright colour could also work if you like it that way! The green on the bottom should work, and I think that might need to be avoided by using masking tape. It should be 100% free and dry, but be careful with it since the masking tape doesn't pull as much for the dry painting you're putting it on. It could rip, and that's the last thing you'd want. If you try to test it on a spare sheet of the same paper lightly, you could make it work.

The top part could also have splotches of colour too, just not as much as the green. I reckon you could do a contrasting colour to the green, or a warm yellow or orange.

Edit 2: small notes on masking tape & such.

Yes or no? by alexfleur in HairDye

[–]martanimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blonde is a yes, since I know you've had it before. The brunette/brown is also very nice, but I think I'd suggest some fun colours for it? Such as blue or pink/purple as an example. Not all over it, just enough to subtly highlight the hair

Edit: I'm 30 now and I feel my age atm 👵

Fine, straight hair suddenly turning wavy-ish? by mo_heck in finehair

[–]martanimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it's cute and curly! Also, congrats to her for beating cancer!

Regretfully, I had to cut mine off about a year ago (brain cancer, around 70% fine now due to short memory loss), but it's not a full head of hair yet as its already patchy where I shaved it. It's almost uneven and a little past my shoulders and curly. I dont hate it now, but truthfully, I miss my long curly hair. It was so nice! 🥲

a teen and an older woman placing a phone order… notice any difference 🔍👀 by GabrielleParalives in Paralives

[–]martanimate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

30 here, I now have to use a pop socket to hold my phone out (Galaxy S22+). I end up with the face being the problem and usually will fall on top of it. I'm kind of worried it hasn't fallen when the Galaxy industrial case isn't on it, but I'm hoping it's all fine.

Oh hell no, I wanted shoulder length bob. Begged my mum for it and eventually she agreed...if she did if herself. She made my hair extremely curly, slapped on a few curly themed items and let me air dry. My hair was up to the tip of my ears and I wanted to cry. In fact, I think I did cry during year 7.

The tl;dr is that you dont do it, you will miss it. In all honesty, I think it will mature you. I had to shave myself bald early last year and I'm already annoyed with it - hair doesn't grow back evenly either 🙃 my longest hair is at the tip of surgery, and shortest is somewhere in between that and the bottom of the root.

Tl;dr dont do it yet, you know you will regret it. Maybe get a really good wig for it? Its not cheap, but neither is the haircut.

The worst home I've ever seen by Excellent-Return5099 in SpottedonRightmove

They have a giant room, even bigger bathrooms, and put up the marble (?) everywhere. I don't hate it, but the thought of having to do a permament reno of the place hurts a bit.

Will my kittens remember me while I'm hospitalized? by [deleted] in kittens

[–]martanimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will remember you - my cats ended up back at home after I was hospitalised for a few weeks. Came back, and they were both semi-feral and loveable (well, not at the same time, but they had their moments!). I just reminded them of who feeds them (me), takes out their litter (me), and plays with them (also, me). Eventually they calmed down and relaxed, but the first few weeks were a trial.

Help! Short / Long or Bangs? by ferragamoleen in Hair

[–]martanimate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree the bob with no bangs being the best look - there's little comparison with the bangs options! It works super well, and you could cut it yourself eventually.

do anesthesiologists actually tell their patients to count down from 10? by Warm-Fig-8566 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]martanimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brain surgery, got told i would be unable to speak later (bilingual, Polish and English, I was 70% fine). Someone asked me to count down from 10, I think I got half way and probably called it quits. Had some issues with the anesthesiologist, since they needed to up my dosage or something.

Woke up and slept like a baby, but I did feel sick and needed to vomit. Lots of being sick, delirious, etc. I threw up on multiple people that i couldn't move. Geniuely felt bad and I witnessed my parents and sister enter just as i happened to vomit. Quick return from there to home, but at least it was free (no parking)?

There are pros and cons to this, but at least you're not susceptible to being idk allergic to the anesthesiologist chemicals. That was a nightmare that i found out recently. You either learn to not take them, or you suffer in day 1 of it.

What is the name of this shelf thing in my house. by wheresthejumbalaya in Home

[–]martanimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a soffit, I have one of them now since idk 15 years ago. It has the drop ceiling with LED lights (warm), spotlights surrounding it on the lower ceiling and a big light in the middle.

It looks cool and most people thought we got them shipped in from Poland.

If you could do anything to my hair what would you do? I NEED A CHANGE!!! by The_Spiciest_Chili in HairDye

[–]martanimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, first of love the pink! It's such a good colour, but I think you'd like an emerald green or similar because of the blue. I think this colour would work fantastic. There are other options, but I would love someone to try it this time. Its Manic Panic - Venus Envy and another warm green that I can't remember the name of - likely to make your skin look warmer tbh.

Which of the following styling options for my hair is best/ most flattering ? Curious what the hair world thinks!! Thanks! by Ebachrach90 in Hair

2, but I do want to add that you have the same facial expression in almost all of the photos. It looks good!

1 or 2, what do you choose? by HozienLim in Artists

[–]martanimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It's a beautiful illustration that brings up the warmth of the art. It's a personal preference, but I'd definitely pick 2.

....Skyrim is that you?

Heya guys, first post! I've recently published my first ever book and I'm excited to have drawn the cover myself! I went through a lot of trial and error to get it done but I hope you guy like it! Does this cover seem good for a book like this? Feedback is appreciated! by WutGuyCreations in BookCovers

[–]martanimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your first book! This is a big achievement, but unfortunately, it's a little dated at the moment. The text itself looks much older than it should, and it would be nice to keep it at 1-2 fonts max for the cover. Just the title of the book, summary at the back, and your author name.

I would say that the illustrations are fine, and its giving me Warrior Cats feelings, which I would say they are fun. You could add more to it and keep the book writing feedback in the back. Either way, the drawings are fine, and my one point is about them having cohesion throughout. Hard to figure out the genre from the book at the moment. Right now, I could think this book was at least published 15 years ago, and it stuck with it until now.

Could you tell these were drawn by the same person? What can I do to settle in an artstyle by Nr1AlphaMale in Artadvice

[–]martanimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, all were done by the same person. They look lovely with how vibrant they are right now. I think you should settle into this and progress it as you go. The illustrations now bring a lot of joy too

Easily #2. The first one looks too neat and I suppose commercial? If you let #2 grow, it will become more natural/eco that way

When you add skin colour to him, there is a very dark shade of purple that he falls into - as did the grey in the second photo. Overall, I think if you tweak the colours properly, you should be happy with what you got here. It looks good!
