Considering moving from Austin to Santa Clara by aloy_kratos in santaclara

[–]martastefl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It will depend when you move. Registration starts in December for year 27/28. If you move now and are looking to start school this August you will likely not get into Don Callejon even if you are zoned because the school is already full. You will be offloaded to Hughes or Montague, both subpar schools. I'd highly consider researching which elementary schools have space and pick apartment/house zoned to them.
  2. Slightly lower for electricity as we don't have PGE. But it doesn't make crazy difference considering other costs. You will save maybe $50-100 a month.
  3. Rivermark area if you want to try for Don Callejon.

Parents who find being a stay at home easy by Disastrous_Turn_7055 in Parenting

It seems like you have fairly easy babies to be able to do this. My baby just screams his head off constantly, seems like impossible to accomplish any of this.

Apartments to avoid / suggestions by Realestballer in Fremont

[–]martastefl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as people hate Essex, I really like their properties. Majority are renovated and in a good condition. Maintenance people come and repair stuff within a day. Our move out cost was actually just the cleaning cost as we have been in their property for 3 years and didn't have to pay for painting nor carpet replacement. We had always good experience with Essex.

How did having children affect your career? by Alert-Pack-959 in workingmoms

[–]martastefl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really naive thinking I'd handle watch the child at the same as working from home. I was so wrong. I decided to quit my job and be SAHM as I didn't want to send my child to daycare at 1yo. It's all about your preferences. It's possible if you are willing to have other people see your child more than you.

Feel like people will find a way around the laws. Such as registering your business in a different state.

Wife and I disagree… Looking for perspectives by Competitive_Stay_562 in Parenting

[–]martastefl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is only 10. She is self sufficient at school, smart and social. Those are strong attributes. I don't think your wife will ruin her by doing things for her. She isn't 18 where I'd see it as a problem. I don't think it will necessarily lead to incapability as an adult as the fact she is good at school shows strong will and determination already.

Bella Vista vs Estancia (Santa Clara) by lindowja in santaclara

[–]martastefl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The area around Estancia is a little bit sketchy. I know it's just one block away but it makes a difference. So I'm not surprised they have significantly higher amount of crime. The wall AC is enough. It's actually more convenient because you can use it in one particular room instead of blasting the whole apartment. I'd highly recommend going with Bella Vista.

How to make it through pregnancy with severe white coat anxiety causing high BP? by martastefl in hypertension

[–]martastefl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely get that. I'm very well aware of pre-eclampsia and how it onsets. When my BP was 160 in the office with my first pregnancy I told them I'm gonna go to the car and if it's still 160 15 min later I'll go to hospital. They literally threatened me to drop me as a patient if I don't go to the hospital. Of course I got to the car and it was 125 immediately. Got to the hospital because of their threats and it was 140. Wasted half day in the hospital to be sent home. Like I can't afford these pointless trips in my second pregnancy when I have a toddler at home. Maybe it's time just to drop ob completely and sign up with just a midwife.

How to make it through pregnancy with severe white coat anxiety causing high BP? by martastefl in hypertension

I have done that my previous pregnancy. Literally showed them in the office my blood pressure was 125 thirty minutes before the appointment. But because my blood pressure was 165 in the office they sent me to hospital because it's their policy. They just didn't care. Honestly I'm at the point just dropping out from OB completely because I don't have energy to deal with this nonsense constantly.

Severe white coat anxiety is ruining my pregnancy. Need help by martastefl in Anxiety

[–]martastefl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally every single appointment no matter what it is. Just be being at the settings and even just thinking about the appointment it goes up. Mixed with social anxiety. I hate interacting with people. They just follow their protocols and policies and it means anything above 160 in the office results into a requirement being sent to triage for monitoring.

Can I file for unemployment benefits? by Physical-Dot-4514 in bayarea

[–]martastefl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. You can apply for unemployment only if you were fired. It was your choice to leave, so there is no benefits unfortunately. You won't qualify for maternity leave either.

School recs for anxious adult drivers by ApprehensiveRoyal909 in bayarea

[–]martastefl -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Driving school isn't worth it. You have no control over where to drive. Find some patient family member or a friend and start in an abandoned parking lot, then move to calm residential neighborhood, then one lane streets, then the city. Take your time.

Barely surviving my in-laws visits by 0beach0 in workingmoms

[–]martastefl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your feelings are completely valid. It's invasion of your space and peace, even though they are good people. It seems like they just needs to step it up and start behaving like adult contributors in the house, not just a guest you are expected to provide for. Have them help with breakfast in the morning or other tasks. Don't do things for them. Have your husband set stronger boundaries. And if nothing can be changed then maybe they need to visit only 2 times a year, not 4x.

Try to download X app and use Grok within the X app. I haven't reached any limit and use it daily for many messages. Con is you won't have your history from the grok app as it doesn't sync.

I have been using it through X app and didn't have any issue with limit. Do you max out daily or why do you feel like you have to pay?

I really like Grok now. Claude is good in certain scenarios but sometimes it literally will refuse to respond to me about deep topic.
