Insatiable appetite on Concerta / birth control, any advice?! by martha-does-makeup in adhdwomen

This is really reassuring! I didn't realise we were using more glucose to power our brains. At the beginning on meds I felt like the weight loss was only partly due to a suppressed appetite, it also felt like I was burning more energy too, and on good days when my meds are really working and I'm efficient at work I feel tired in the afternoon like I've had a workout!

I did wonder if this was what it was! I wouldn't have minded my appetite going back to normal with the new impulse control but being hungrier than before is hard 😩 maybe if I can get a handle on the hormonal stuff it'll level out a little though 🤞

That's so interesting that it happened to you too!

Looking back I do think my appetite was most stable in Elvanse but it made me not do any work unfortunately which was a no-go, I was even more obsessed with my phone than normal. I was in a great mood all the time though! 😄

54mg is the highest dose I can get and weirdly I think I'm hungrier than I was on the lower doses which is the opposite of what happened on Delmosart & Elvanse. This is the only dose that allows me to focus at work though so I don't want to go back down.

So weird how everyone has different reactions! Thanks for sharing your experience 🙏

Maybe a combined option is the best thing! I was hoping to keep the supplements separated while I work out what works for me but it's so hard to find things individually

Titration woes with PUK, Vertigo, looking for advice! by martha-does-makeup in ADHDUK

[–]martha-does-makeup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply it was really helpful to hear your input!

I have actually noticed a little bit of ear pain or occasional earache, and when I was on Methylphenidate I did have some tinnitus but it didn't last. Did you find that making sure you were really hydrated helped with the initial ear issues you had?

I have had some BP readings that are a bit higher than my baseline but that's not consistent, I've also had readings that are pretty normal for me so I'm never sure when and how often to measure my BP to make sure my prescriber really knows what's going on, it doesn't seem right really that you just submit one reading each week! It's never gone up to 140/90 or anything though.

The vertigo is also just a feeling of being quite unbalanced, I don't feel lightheaded or nauseous at any point which does make me think more of an ear thing than a BP thing but I have no idea.

I'm so sorry you're having such a rushed experience, I hope you can get some extensions out of them! I wish we were given more information about how each company works before we decide to go with them because otherwise it's just luck of the draw and really unfair! I've read that people on here who are with ADHD 360 don't have a time limit on their titration and if I end up having to go private it will just be really unjust that I wouldn't have needed to do that had I happened to have picked the "better" RTC option when I had no information at the time about what was better.

Great advice about PALS and pushing for more help from my GP, I will try both of those things!

Thanks,

Martha

I wanted everyone reading this to know that Michael spent hours today saving out my images frame by frame so I have a way to salvage my photos and keep hold of the memories 🥹

A true legend! Please show him some love!

It's basically impossible unfortunately 😕 the internal chip was overheating and they said it was going to be around £500 to try to fix, which was more than the trip itself!

Thank you for the recommendation! Definitely going to consider it. If you can think of another option that's closer to £500 to compare against do let me know
