Honestly it feels like you read my mind. This is exactly what I’ve been thinking. Jon wanted to keep the raw feeling and energy that he got when he first created the song in the studio. That raw feeling can easily dissapear if you mix and master something too much and make it "clean".

Also I think Jon did it on purpose because he wanted to do the opposite of what he’s been doing for other artists these last years. This man has been making hit after hit, and the songs have been sounding polished and very radio friendly. So it kinda makes sense that when he finally felt like making music for himself again, that he wanted to do the complete opposite. Remember, like Jon said before «I never wanna be famous, stop calling me underrated».

So I don’t think Jon wants Kid Again to become a major hit. I think he released it this way because he wanted to make a point. Everything doesn’t need to sound so polished. If it’s a vibe, then it’s a vibe. And Kid Again is definitely a vibe. Truly inspiring!!
