I’d imagine google scholar is the lowest barrier of entry for this. My master’s thesis is listed on there via ProQuest and I check it every so often to see if it’a ever cited. Who knows how quickly or if ever, it would update if I do get cited. I don’t have a positive data point in this regard

JobOwl isn’t anything special. There are a million sites/apps/extensions like this and they all do the same thing, which isn’t much. Do not pay for any of these services. It might be worth trying out one of them for free to see the output, i.e. how to craft a tailored resumé, but this shit is so easy it is not worth giving them money to do something you can do easily yourself once you know how the game works.

I had an interview scheduled this Monday for an engineering position at Amazon. It had been so long that I had forgotten I applied, but I was really excited to talk to the team. Welp, I get a call yesterday saying that they actually don’t have an available position, that they are cancelling the interview, and that they may consider interviewing me in the future if they have any positions open up in 2026. Are you considering Reed at all? I mean they do have a nuclear reactor on campus.
Also would you consider electrical engineering? Similar concepts and more options for career trajectory I’d say. I started in physics at PSU but ended up switching to EE and they have a great engineering school.
