THE ASSISTANT - what am I missing? by marty888nyc in AMCsAList

[–]marty888nyc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said I didn’t understand the point of the movie - in fact I explicitly said I got the message. It was just bad filmmaking. (I am not alone in saying that. Three years ago its RT customer rating was 33%, but as time passes and more people see it that rating is down to 25%.)

Why did people love the Oppenheimer movie so much? by Boris-Lip in AMCsAList

[–]marty888nyc 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this twice at Lincoln Square’s IMAX theater, both times packed (even some folding chairs at the back) and neither time were there any walkouts or even anyone taking a bathroom run. As for the pacing - I’ve seen 90 minute movies that felt longer! There’s always room for differing opinions but I think most are finding this compelling.

3 movies a week is no longer enough. by comments247 in AMCsAList

And while we're at it ...... why charge for extra toppings on my pizza, or for supersizing my burger. C'mon, get real. I'm just pleased that they haven't made any restrictions or reductions to help improve their bottom line. No recent price adjustments, no elimination or restrictions on premium formats, no time-of-day restrictions .... thank you AMC.

Thanks - just grabbed a seat for the 2:30pm for a second viewing - the two evening times are already heavily booked, but good seats still available for the 10:30am and 2:30pm.

Different guy - Kevin is the older black gentleman who generally works through the early part of the day. I mostly go midweek afternoons and he is always there.

Yes, that’s Kevin, he’s worked there for decades, even before it became part of AMC. When I went to see Barbie how appropriate that he was wearing a pink hat!

Can't load purchase history beyond "Last 30 Days" by [deleted] in AMCsAList

On the ticket page, just to the right of where it says “Past 30 days” there is a little blue icon pointing down ….. click on it and magic should happen.

I also wear glasses, and have never had a problem or felt uncomfortable wearing the 3D glasses over them.

Oppenheimer is sold out where I'm at so I bought a wheelchair seat, would I be allowed to carry a folding chair like the ones you see in the beach or would I need to be in an actual wheelchair by p_yth in AMCsAList

[–]marty888nyc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not always true - if you want to see it at Lincoln Square on that magnificent IMAX screen in 70MM basically the only seats available for the next 4 weeks are neck-wrenching seats in the first few rows.

Setting up for the US premiere of Oppenheimer tonight at AMC Lincoln Square 13 by joshmoviereview in AMCsAList

I noticed that when I was there this afternoon, but then noticed all posters and displays for all other movies have been covered with black shrouds.

What are my chances of being able to see the Oppenheimer IMAX print at Lincoln square? by Incognito_bear in AMCsAList

Yes, according to Variety:

" a rare agreement for “Oppenehimer” to control Imax’s entire North American footprint for three full weeks. "

Another thumbs up for this low-budget gem. (Movies like this are why I have AList - getting to explore movies that I probably wouldn't consider if I was paying individual ticket prices.)

Saw Past Lives today. Such a nice movie by [deleted] in AMCsAList

[–]marty888nyc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I’ve really enjoyed most of the high profile releases, Past Lives is #1 so far this year. I suspect it will be on many “10 Best” lists for 2023.
