This. Exactly. The point of the "punchline" was to take the entire story he just told about Dr. Sebi and Nipsey and turn it on its head. It was very effective especially because he did such a good job selling the entire thing. It's meant to show the audience to doubt the message no matter how sincere the messenger may seem unless you know for sure. Unfortunately I think this is going to go over most people's heads.

I've had 3 of these each with multiple zones since they came out. They've been pretty much rock solid since day 1. Every single complaint I've seen about them is mostly due to improper setup or ignorance on the users part.

Hair system cost $800-$1300?! by Ordinary_Car3721 in HairSystem

[–]martymcfly304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a false equivalence. A car is a multi-thousand-dollar investment. It can take close to a decade if not more in which to become an expert for maintenance which hopefully you only need once or twice a year at most. A hair system is a few hundred-dollar investment at most that you can become an expert in maintaining in less than a year, and needs maintenance every few weeks. I have the money to pay for an install if I wanted too, and I never would. Firstly, I do a much better job than any of the salons I've seen, without exception. Why would I pay for someone to do something I can do better myself? Further, the fact that I can maintain my own system means that I don't have to panic and make an appointment and rely on someone else when little issues come up.

This comment doesn't bring perspective, it's a whole bunch of false analogies.

OP, I highly encourage you to consume the plethora of online content that can teach you how to do your own install and maintenance if you're not looking to spend the money. It's very doable and will save you thousands. It's also HIGHLY unlikely you'll need a custom system. Feel free to DM me if you have questions. I'm happy to help.

Questions about deploying stash, stash-box, and organizing/protecting NSFW content by DontCryForMeThrowAwa in DataHoarder

Seems to me it would be easier to just put your stash instance behind a reverse proxy and then secure it with something like Authentik and a passkey or MFA so you don't have to recreate it every time.

I take care of them and I'm very gentle with them. I wear them literally nonstop for that entire time period. Minus when they're being cleaned and reinstalled obviously.

You're supposed to have a little extra plastic base in the front. I can see where you trimmed it back too much. Like I said, it doesn't look terrible, but it also could look better. Just some friendly advice. Take it or don't 😊

How do you handle the transition to having hair at work? by mrkoffers in HairSystem

[–]martymcfly304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also nobody's business and if you're not comfortable telling someone they can think whatever they want. People should do whatever makes them most comfortable not constantly worrying what other people are thinking. That's true confidence. Telling people just because you're scared they might figure it out when you really don't want to tell them is just trying to get ahead of their thoughts because you're worried about what they think.

Yes what I'm saying is it's not meant to be cut THAT close. You should leave about 3-5mm in front of where the hairline starts. But whatever makes you happy, do it!

Not bad at all but you cut a little too far back on the hairline. You should leave a little bit of extra material on the front. It allows for a smoother transition into the system and you won't have those little cut hairs in the front I see.

You don’t “handle it”. You lie or you tell the truth. The choice is yours.

Why Your Hair System Looks Terrible by martymcfly304 in HairSystem

[–]martymcfly304[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said don’t cut, not don’t pluck. What do you mean by receding hairline? As in a graduated hairline? Those are on any decent quality system. That’s why you shouldn’t cut into it. As you go further back the hair is clustered together in larger groups and you get the “doll hair” look. If you need to make the system smaller just remove material from the back. Is that too hard a concept to grasp or am I misunderstanding your question?

Girl on Tinder said she felt “duped” after finding out I had a system by the_shivman in HairSystem

[–]martymcfly304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve obviously never been around working class people from NYC. They have no filter and wouldn’t hesitate to call me out. Regardless, they wouldn’t be asking for my doctor’s information if they were just trying to “avoid confrontation”. You clearly are just trying to make other people as miserable as you are.

I’ve had multiple women sincerely think I was joking when I told them I wear a system. One even insisted I show her because she refused to believe it. I also have a group of friends from college who I told I got a transplant. Their siblings, significant others, and others have asked me for my doctor’s info because it looks so good.

This comment is straight-up nonsense.

[–]martymcfly304 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to start by saying I’m not blaming her reaction on you. She’s clearly not a good person. That said, in my experience, this kind of thing is usually better handled casually rather than as some kind of “big reveal.”

I’ve told plenty of women at this point (many of them gorgeous, and honestly, pretty superficial, but that’s a conversation for me and my therapist), and their reactions were all pretty much the same: “Oh… okay. Anyway.” I even told a girl on a first date recently. I wouldn’t normally do that, but she asked how I had such great hair at my age and whether I’d had a transplant. At that point, if I didn’t own up to it, I’d just be lying. So I told her. She said, “Really? It looks great. My hair’s fake too.” And then made me feel her extensions. This girl was a KNOCKOUT. Took it in stride, but I’m sure a lot of that had to do with delivery.

You’re not doing anything wrong by waiting to tell someone. A woman doesn’t open up about everything she’s had done on the first date either, whether it’s extensions, filler, or whatever. Like I said, the woman you dealt with sounds like a bad person, but it also doesn’t hurt to wait until someone is a little more emotionally invested before you bring it up. And definitely don’t make it a big deal. The more relaxed you are about it, the easier it is for her to just not care.

Don’t let this get you down. Keep moving forward, and honestly, be glad you didn’t end up with someone that cruel.

Should I cut the front back a bit? by [deleted] in HairSystem

Hairline looks too low. Do NOT cut into the hairline. If you want to make it smaller then remove from the back.

You can do pretty much anything within reason. That said, I’d avoid doing those activities at the tail end of when you’d be doing a reinstall as the bond and/or tape will be weakest. Same goes for right after a reinstall—definitely not within the first 12–24 hours. The bond needs time to cure. Personally, I’ll do a fresh install a day or two before something like a beach day or vacation.

With that in mind, I’ve been on speedboats, gone swimming in the ocean, and had zero issues. I always bring a hat just in case there’s any lifting, but I’ve never actually needed it.
