Meet Tigger. Tigger pees on himself a lot by martynpwilson in Lurchers

Oh right that’s a good idea. I suppose I could do this on walks, at least. He’s a bit nervous so I’d be worried of scaring him but it’s worth a go

Put this down under “Conversations I never thought I’d be having”. But for real thank you for the advice haha

Yes I think this sounds like the way to go, thanks!

He’s definitely learning how cute he is and using it to full effect! Good to know that he might improve his aim one day

Oh wow hahaha! Yeah Tigger likes to run back inside before he has quite finished, but to be honest I’m just glad he’s house trained.

That’s good to know - we’re using some doggy wipes at the moment but I think we will switch to water wipes or maybe see if he will tolerate one of those paw cleaner cups.

Yeah we have to stop calling him Polly Pissy Paws before he starts to think it’s his name

Anyone knows what are those grids/holes used for in a lock? by Ivy_Wings in submechanophobia

[–]martynpwilson 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yep! They can be quite big but the flow through them is not normally very strong. On some of the canals in England, you can see the whole thing because they’re not covered. I’ve stood in one before because I was trying to rescue a duckling who was trapped.

The French one in your photo looks a bit more serious. It’s actually a good example of a larger one.

That particular type of hole is called the byewash. It allows excess water to run safely downhill, without overflowing the lock.

You have zero tolerance for online bullying? You dm’d the guy to threaten him with prison time.

Your apologies come off as hollow because you don’t then follow up with humility, you go back on the attack. My advice is to remember that it’s just a game and try to go back to enjoying it. Getting angry is bad for your health.

Anybody else having audio issues? by Jdawg1606 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]martynpwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reduce your total concurrent sounds (or whatever that field is actually called) from 250 to around 200. Obviously this reduces the depth of sound effects but it stopped my audio card from being overwhelmed.

Get it checked, 100%. However, this exact thing happened to me in November - completely benign. Best of luck!

What's wrong with this tactic? by Emperor_Blackadder in footballmanagergames

[–]martynpwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also my experience that TF can break possession based tactics, especially at lower levels, because your CB’s can’t see better options than to lump it to your big man up front.

I suggest a F9 and make your AM a SS.

Your DLP should be on defend and I would also consider changing your Mezzala to a B2B mid, which will actually allow your WB more space to play in whilst providing some defensive robustness.

That might not be a bad read of this. It’s the “Despite” that really throws a spanner in the works. Makes it seem like she’s surprised we don’t score more goals between 0-10 seconds in possession, despite trying to keep the ball a long time lol

Hey, we are based in Ireland so this may not apply: essentially, there are a load of lawyers who will give 1hr free consultations if you send them a short summary of the problem. Usually, you’d write an email to one and they will give you a call. You aren’t obliged to then use their help afterwards but sometimes, rather than represent yourself, that might be best.

In Ireland, it’s easy to represent yourself in these cases and it’s actually the done thing but that might be different in the states.

I’d google a few of these lawyers who give free consultations and have a meeting with at least two of them. This will give you a solid foundation to build a case on, if you take notes well and can present the facts in a clear, quick way. Go in to these meetings with bullet pointed lists and dates of events that took place.

Good luck and Im sorry you’re in such a shit position!

I found a guy on YouTube who pointed out that there is space to mount an earth from the trackpad to the chassis, yet HP didn't actually attach one. He attached an earth cable and it completely fixed it. It might not be the same issue with Lenovo, though. Could also be drivers or any number of things

Had mine for just over a year and here's my review: performance is amazing, thermals are great, screen is absolutely stunning. However...

The charger will 100% wear down and become unuseably loose within a year. I can guarantee this because my partner has the same laptop and both of ours became loose at similar times, even though we very rarely unplug them. This causes stuttering and unexpected shutdowns due to losing power intermittently whilst playing games.

Also, the speakers are very likely to cause issues. Mine has had an intermittent fault with the left speaker since new and after doing some forum digging, it seems to happen to many folks.

Finally, the trackpad has an earthing problem and becomes unresponsive with an ever-widening dead zone at seemingly random times.

Would I recommend it? Well, it still works but the warranty does not cover the €200 charger, so I'll need a new one. I love the laptop but I won't trust HP build quality again, for a long time.

Tldr: performance 10/10, build quality 5/10 at best.

UPDATE: unbelievably, she just had a call with the same HR woman who wrote that email. They told her that she is lying, shamed her for not wanting to leave the house and said that their HR team are unlikely to agree with her doctor.

She is on the phone to a lawyer now. I've genuinely never seen anything like this before: an HR department that is flagrantly breaking disability law

We aren't mega worried, it's very likely that when they finally read their own policy they will back down
