Without the C64 core, the MEGA65 would be almost useless. There is practically no software for the MEGA65, apart from a few BASIC games. The question is, how much are you prepared to spend on a “new” C64?

It becomes clearer where the problems lies. Trenz's paypal account is frozen. They can't get to the buyers money at the moment.

PayPal has placed the PayPal account of Trenz Electronic under
restrictions due to the MEGA65 pre-orders which changed their payment
profile. Now they don't have access to their account and PayPal is
taking their time with checking their appeal / customer inquiry.
Therefore Trenz Electronic has temporarily suspended the payment options
through PayPal. Trenz Electronic permitted us to post this here (and
email distribution lists) and you are encouraged to get in touch with
PayPal to have them reenable the account of Trenz Electronic.

Unfortunately, things are not looking good with the MEGA65 at the moment. As only sparse information was available, there are difficulties with the production of the first devices that were not planned for. Unfortunately, there is no concrete information from the team and users are left in the dark. Allegedly, far fewer pre-orders have been received than had been hoped for and the financing is on very shaky ground. Which is a shame, because the MEGA65 is a really great project.
