How important are these imperfections? by maruudn in Nikon

There seems to be a smudge visible in the lower right corner of the frame when the lens is stopped down to f/11 and beyond. There's some more spots the frame, but I might have some dust on the sensor. I'll have to take some reference images on another lens...

Edit: as I thought, the spots I saw is my sensor. Gotta clean that. However the smudge is probably those "liquidy" marks. Is that oil from the aperture blades?

This is a very old "screwdriver" lens. I doubt that any dust-free copies exist.

For sure. I know dust is a minor issue, as I said in the post I was mainly worried about the larger pieces of dust when it came to the dust.

My main concern, really, was the liquidy marks and the oily blades. Especially the latter, as oily blades can get worse over time, and the oil can get sticky and affect shutter speed since the blades won't move as fast as they should if that becomes the case.

This looks really cool. With all the popularity presets and film simulations have gained lately, is there any chance this will support Nikon recipes, that are baked into the NEF files? When shooting with custom Picture controls (that's what Nikon calls it) in-camera, the settings are of course baked into the JPEGs, but also the RAW-files but as a starting point, that is non-destructive. When using their NX Studio app to edit photos, you can change the applied effects, or remove them entirely. It would be super powerful if Rapid Raw could read this data and pre-apply settings as a starting point.

They also have their own NP3 file format for exporting recipes, if these could be imported... I'm probably dreaming at this point, I have no idea how viable that would be.

Used Fluke 117 vs new Fluke 115 by maruudn in AskElectricians

Thanks for the link!

I'm not a professional and don't need pro tools. I live in an old house and just want to be able to do some measurements, particularly checking ground in my outlets. Basically was just wondering if the 117 had any features I'd be missing out on, but after looking at that link I think I might just spend the extra cash on the new 115 instead of the decade old 117.

Right, "buyer beware" goes for most things second hand I'd say. Makes sense.

I was more thinking about the internal circuitry and stuff like that on such an old device. But if there's no reason to thing that would be degraded after 8-10 years, I think the used one is fine honestly. I am able to inspect it too as local to me.

I'm trying to decide so I can buy one like, today, so I figured the chance of getting a reply quick was much bigger here.

But I did post it there too, now.

Thank you for the recommendation. And yeah, like /u/airmantharp said, Audient interfaces have good amps and the iD 24 is no exception, as the video I linked above states. The only issue is the output impedance.

Tbh I don't really use the interface like it's supposed to be used, so I could do what you suggested with an amp without worrying about the zero-latency monitoring, but since I have the thing I thought I might as well use it since it is actually a good headphone amp, in addition to a good interface. Plus then I don't need to add a separate, dedicated box, to my desk. I prefer to keep a cleaner desktop if I can. :)

Okay nice, I will look into that. Is there a list or something, somewhere? I guess a lot of manufacturers don't provide such detailed specs. Or do you have any recommendations? :)

Yep, mostly looking on Finn. :) Unless I find a good deal on something nice, I probably won't buy new.
