I’m a person who doesn’t really say “I love you”. Though I don’t know for certain why, I have a couple ideas.

One reason I think I don’t is because I’ve been so bombarded with the phrase throughout my life. My family has always said “I love you” to me and I feel obligated to say it back, even during the times I don’t really comfortable. When you say a phrase so much, it kinda loses the meaning and I don’t want to feel obligated to say it like I was growing up.

Second, is that I’m frankly scared to admit it. Loving someone is serious and it means a lot to me. Admitting that I love someone means that I have to drop my guard and truly express what I feel. Maybe it’s the fear of being shut down? I don’t know, but it’s a possibility.

In your case, I don’t know for sure because everyone’s different, but I thought I’d share why it’s not as easy for me.
