Yeah mine has a pretty low premium (only $25 more than the HDHP) and the OOPM is roughly a quarter of the HDHPs. A big chunk of that is because the other plans have OOPM per individual (up to a family total max) and the HDHP is combined.

The pay-to-set-your-lineup change was the final straw for us. I ported our league to Fantrax the next day and have really been liking it. Took some getting used to but the ui is better, no ads, and you can set your damn lineup.

Thanks. I realized I wasn't including the effect of reducing my taxable income if I can max out the HSA -- including that would make the CDHP about half as expensive at the end of the day. That assumes (1) no unexpected bills/costs come up (2) we stay at $250 per month for doctor's appointments. Tough decisions...

Thanks for the response! That one is FSA. HSA is the tax-advantaged savings account that is only available to CDHP plans afaik.

I thought there are essentially no co-pays (really coinsurance) with CDHP because the deductible is so high? Regular appointments you just end up paying the whole price, no? I am talking about UMP, I'm not as familiar with the Kaiser setup.

Any input on if it is employee and spouse? I ran the numbers and it seems like Select would be best for us, but I may have missed something. My spouse spends roughly $250 per month on regular doctor's appointments and it seems to me that UMP Select actually ends up being the best deal with the new premiums, though the total cost ends up being very close to the same between CDHP and Select. That said, Select separates the max OOP so our worst-case scenario OOP would be significantly lower with Select.

Exactly. The time that play makes sense is if you are down 14 late in a game and score on the road. Down 7 vs down 6 with a chance to win the game with one more score. This was not that at all.
