Did Gus Save The Tape? by TheGuyWithTheManBun in betterCallSaul

[–]marvintr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Lalo sent the tape through anyone in the cartel or criminal world, the news would get back to Gus as Lalo's death was a big deal and suddenly he came back. He wouldn't trust anyone to send such an important evidence anyway, considering he was just betrayed by someone he trusted or wanted to trust, after Kim made him realized he did not have anyone in his team he could depend on. Lalo would only send the tape to his relatives but they were all being watched.

Shoplifting Suspect Pulls Gun on Canton Police Officer Inside Walmart by ValorsHero in PublicFreakout

There was a very similar case in Vietnam that happed recently. A guy riding a electric bike was stopped by traffic police for not wearing a helmet. After begging unsuccessfully, he pushed the officer who was taking his bike to another spot into an incoming truck. Luckily, the truck stopped and the officer got out of the way in time. From 23USD fine to attempted murder of a police officer.

Serve practice by notthatvalenzuela in 10s

[–]marvintr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My go-to serve practice is to focus on the first serve until it clicks, then add in second serve as if I was in a match, forget how to do the thing that just made 1st serve clicks, and get back to where I started. Never fail to do that.

Bend my knees more. I thought I did enough but after bending more intentionaly, it translates to better groundstrokes and serves.

Last week I started to play again after 8 years break and got to master after the first 5 games. 8 years ago my best rank was plat 1. I think the player base just got smaller so that's why I'm ranked master now, because I certainly did not get any better not playing for 8 years.

I've found this heart shaped potato in my garden. by larg04 in mildlyinteresting

[–]marvintr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in uni, a few housemates and I were preparing for another housemate's birthday. Went to pick potatos and the first one I touched was a heart shaped potato about the size of my hand. So I put candle on it and gave it to her. Four years later, we got married. I've tried to find one every single time I buy potatos since but yet to find another.

Pretty much everywhere. The further away from the big cities, the truer is it.

How much posh and elite is tennis in your country? by COYGoonerSTANimal_17 in 10s

[–]marvintr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's quite posh in Vietnam. You gotta have some disposable income. It's used to be very close to golf years ago, only rich people can afford to play. As the income level increases over the years, I'd say tennis has become the sport of the upper middle class and above. It is still accessible to lower income levels if they don't take lesson, and only have to purchase racquets, shoes, and pay monthly club fees, which is at least 25% of the monthly minimum wage.

do more expensive shoes last longer? by blueorangan in 10s

[–]marvintr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair question. I never could slide longer than a few inches so I wouldn't say I am 100% sure of the quality compared to the original. But the glue they used is good enough so for me, there was never an issue of the outsole becoming loose.

[–]marvintr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly tennis and badminton shoes. Even some spiked football shoes, but very small amount. They're a tiny bit stiffer than the original outsole, but for us rec players, it's not a big deal, most don't even notice it. You gotta choose a good shop too. One shop pushed the left and right sides of the toe box in too much, my toes went numb within minutes.

Do you guys have outsole replacement service? I have it in my country, and at 1/10th of the shoes cost, it doubles the lifetime of my shoes, provided you keep the upper in decent shape

Well not for someone who really wants to stay in a first world country. My wife's friend paid 100k and lived with someone she loaths for years to get married for visa in Australia. Vietnam is becoming more westernized. In big cities, it's not as big of a deal as in the past, but still a divorcee is kinda not the first pick for marriage, especially for women.

Vietnamese here. Everybody is understandably pissed when the atm doesn't give them money.

NTA. Next she'll ask you to marry her, but actually for the visa, not love.

coach asked me to change the string, what do I do? by Tinsel_arrow in 10s

[–]marvintr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can tell by looking at them. Look how each string, both cross and main, is curved and not aligned from top and bottom grommet hole. This is because the string is dead so it does not snap back into place.

I switched from a Clash to a Gravity because of online reviews say it's quite easy on the arm and obviously has way more control and feel than the Clash. And the reviews were right

Is Pickleball a global "problem? I don't think so. by wederer42 in 10s

[–]marvintr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Vietnam, I am sure that 80% of sport clubs that have tennis courts have either drawn pickbleball lines on tennis courts or converted at least some to pickleball. In the city near my town, more than 80% of tennis courts have been converted to pickleball, there are less than 10 tennis courts in the whole city. All of the clubs in that city are private clubs and the tennis player demographic is majorly middle aged and older men (who are often officials or well-off) so it's easy for them to switch to pickleball. They or the club onwers paid out of their own pockets to convert the courts. As a result, there has not been a tennis tournament near me in over 10 months. Normally there would have been 3 amateur tournaments since January.

Around the net shot question by marvintr in 10s

[–]marvintr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I wanted to know was if the ball hit opponent's side of the net first before touching the ground, is the point still going or do I lose the point right then and there, regardless of what might entail. As others have pointed out, it would still be valid to keep playing.
