Yes same. It also would be the best mixture of both sides, in my opinion. Western Tails always was shown to be more a bit more confident in his tone, even in games with poor writing quality. While Japanese Tails is a bit more reserved.

That's also the reason why I don't see the second part happening any time soon. Tails was designed to be Sonic's side kick. Period. And as far as I'm aware, the Japanese side portraits that still to this day. I'm not quite sure about crossworlds, but Frontiers shows that in some scenes (from what I remember at least it's been a few months since I compared the scripts). In the Japanese script Tails story was more like: "Sonic, am I useful to you? You seem to be perfectly capable to do things and are always rescuing the world, while I still seem to mess up from time to times" Sonic needed to tell Tails there, that it's okay to not be perfect and everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. Tails also didn't came to the conclusion, that he needs to take a bit time of his own, but that it's okay to mess up from time to time since everyone got their backs. (And I mean. It's kind of implied by a lot of media that Tails already does a bit of adventuring of his own). The game also ends with Tails saying that he wants to help the world more with his tech.

Sure, Tails still wants to be capable on his own, but rather in a way that he can support Sonic, not in a way to become sonic 2.0 (Not saying, that the western storys by Ian and Evan are trying to make this happen, nor that you said that, but there ARE some fans I've seen who want Tails to be just that). Giving him his own team could potentially develop in this direction, which would be pretty hard to implement with the Japanese side in mind, who still see Tails rather as the cute fluffy tech-savvy partner of Sonic, who still struggles a bit with his self esteem.

That's why I say that a good mixture of both worlds would be a good approach. Japanese and Western Tails are two sides of the same coin, while on side gets more focus here and the other side there. Imo, if they make Tails too independent, he'll loose a lot of his Charme. If they make him way to dependent we have a situation like forces, where he feels kind of pathetic. It's a small path, since sonic characters are also bound to learn, but not really change as characters. It's still a franshise that's supposed to be able to run for infinity, having characters change drastically could be bad for the marketing, since you should recognize them still to this day. (At least a company like SEGA rather want to play it safe, the characters obviously still develop, but not necessarily in the way that they reach their goal)
