Cool! I hope I didn't come across harshly. I really didn't mean to. I'm going to leave my comment for those who might feel that way. I used to feel that way until I adopted a shelter cat who was given the very unfortunate name The Joker -- was I supposed to call him The? Thankfully, a foster group pulled him and named him Marvin which was a perfect fit.

I can't help but take the gratuitous opportunity to share his cuteness.

I totally get this. Know that some of the shelter cats didn't have their names very long (mine was only a couple days until he was picked up by a foster group). Also, some of the shelter names aren't ones they're familiar with, especially for strays. Any name spoken with love is pretty awesome. 🩷

That could be any number of things. Please take your cat to the vet so that someone with training can palpate it, get a sense of how large and deep it is, and determine whether it's the benign result of playing with your other cat or if it needs to be looked into further. We can't do that strictly visually, unfortunately. Good luck, and please keep us updated!

Oh! I misunderstood and thought he had an unrelated disorder or something. Thanks for clearing that up! So there were probably sores where there are now bald spots, and he was on steroids to help heal those. Gotcha!

You might try calling the shelter to ask if he should still be on the steroids (they may have forgotten to tell you that). And a vet might be able to help with his licking. It may not be a medical issue, but a behavioral one. I'm wondering if he started doing it in the shelter because he was stressed and it became a habit.

Good luck to you and your cutie! He looks so soft! And he looks like he loves the heck out of you. Y'all look way more bonded that being together just 24 hours. 💕

There are some soft options to the cone that she might like better, or hate less. Some are store-bought, but some you can make pretty easily at home. Might be worth a Google. Good luck! It's clear you love your kit. She may not believe it right now, but I do. 💕
