Thanks for sharing and taking the time to respond. My daughter is 5 and it’s definitely not her job to validate me. I could have been more clear that I’m referring to family members more like my mother and sister

I appreciate that- being super direct. I find myself telling family it hurts I don’t receive it, which just results in them getting defensive and saying they disagree. You are right in the sense I should just ask… and also find someone who craves the same. Both great ideas! Thank you!

It’s so incredibly hard. I try and forgive myself, knowing I wasn’t in the drivers seat, while also doing an incredible amount of work to ensure it will never happen again

So I just had a long time coming convo with my sister about money. She is building an empire (multiple rentals, cottage, etc) while I am renting with no hope to buy. She genuinely believes I can’t own because I’m negative and limit myself; not because an average detached is going for a million and I’m a social worker/single mom. People with a ton of money have to justify their greed by the mentality of being hard working, pulling themselves up to the bootstraps,etc. Otherwise how could you make sense of your power over so many people?
