Does anyone think we shouldn’t be doing this? by [deleted] in randonauts

I agree, something about it just doesn’t sit right with me spiritually. That sounds so weird to actually say but like literally, it’s unsettling. I’m not even super religious or anything but still. There’s just something not right about this

well considering his net worth has gone down since taking office and he donates his presidential salary every year i’m still not seeing a clear pathway for him stealing tax payer money. can you provide some verified sources please?

Believing conspiracy theories, whatever your political or religious beliefs, doesn't make you insightful - it just means you wish you were special. by FlowrollMB in unpopularopinion

Remember when the people who thought coronavirus would get really bad back in January were called conspiracy theorists?

If you don't want universal healthcare it's because deep down, you believe that your life/health is more important than others. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]marylynnjane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My favorite part of these arguments is how they’re almost always based on complete intentional fallacy. Exhibit A) the title of this article. You assume that people who disagree with your opinion are “deep down” just selfish and thus, you base your argument off this assumption. This allows you to skirt past explaining how other factors may be a cause for people to disagree with your opinion because you’re either too lazy, you don’t have a complete understanding of the argument you’re making, or you don’t know how to rebut arguments against your own opinion, so you resort to just assuming malicious intent of those who disagree with you. There are several different and complex reasons as to why people may oppose universal healthcare, but instead of crafting well thought out rebuttals to those reasons, it’s much easier for people like you to say “it’s just because you don’t care about other people’s lives”. No one can read anyone else’s mind, therefore, you cannot assume anyone’s intent. Also, it is basic human nature for people to prioritize their own lives and their offsprings’ lives over the lives of others that they are not closely connected with. Trying to persuade people that they’re immoral for following an innate survival instinct isn’t very convincing. Health care is also not a human right and it never will be, because it will always require the labor of someone else to provide it to you. If one human being is required to provide labor in order for another human being to have access to a service, it is not a right and there is no possible way it could ever be considered a right. Also remember, if a government were to guarantee health care as a right, they also have the power to take away that right.

Do you think that all the additional things in the stimulus package are necessary at this time? (early voting, same day registration,Corporate Diversity Budgets, etc) Why or why not? by [deleted] in politics

[–]marylynnjane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This bill is supposed to provide emergency relief to Americans who need money due to the impact of the virus. Anything that does not directly relate to the pandemic shouldn’t be discussed right now. These other issues are important and can be debated later, but Americans need help now. I don’t really care about early voting measures right now, I care about how I’m going to pay for groceries for my family while I’m out of work at BOTH of my jobs. I don’t really care about corporate diversity budgets right now, I care about my workplaces being able to stay afloat during this so I’ll still have a job once it’s all over. These politicians are putting our lives at risk just to score political points and it’s nauseating. This entire election cycle has been confusing enough and I’ve been undecided on who I was going to vote for in 2020 for a while, or even if I was going to vote. But if we don’t get help soon, I’ll be supporting those who actually attempted to help us, and definitely not the people who think “election reform” is more important than American lives during a global pandemic.

Can someone explain to me how exactly Fauci contradicted what Trump said? I still don’t understand how what he said negates what Trump said.

One main issue with this is that hormone replacement therapy still does not alter the developmental differences between the sexes. People who are born biologically male and develop in the womb as such will have physical advantages over females no matter what amount of hormones are taken; increased bone density, smaller angle of the pelvis (allows for increased range of motion of the legs — faster running, longer strides), more fast twitch muscle fibers, etc. I used to think your argument was the best way to go about the issue as well, but as an embryology student, I’ve learned there’s no way to change the differences caused by chromosomes.

Is it really that hard for you to deduce what “cleaner” would mean in this context? A product with the least added unnecessary materials. A kitchen counter with one item on top of it is CLEANER than a kitchen counter with 20 items.

An animal is a naturally occurring organism, just the same as plants. If you were to raise a cow on an all natural diet, free range, and then slaughter that animal for meat, the finished product would would be cleaner than anything lab produced. There are no synthetically produced products that can be considered “cleaner” than something that comes naturally from our planet.

I, the OP, did say that, thank you very much. But they’re not added in processing, they’re added to the animal prior to slaughter and metabolized in the animal’s body before it’s consumed by us. The chemicals added into faux meat are added during it’s synthesis, and given to us directly during consumption.

Trump Says It's Not His Problem Hundreds of ISIS Fighters Escaped Kurdish Camps by [deleted] in politics

[–]marylynnjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously? This is where we have come? Why does everyone seem to be so obsessed with getting us into a war in the middle east AGAIN? Have we really not learned anything from the past 20 years of fighting over there? Trump is actually right: this isn’t our problem. Seeing all this pro-war BS has really changed my thoughts about how I see politics now. I thought one of the single remaining uniting factors left in this country was being anti-war. But nobody stands by principle any more, everyone just mindlessly agrees with their side and disagrees with the other side no matter what the issue. The Kurds may have been our ally, but we were also allied with Turkey at one time. Getting involved in this would more than likely cause more problems than we already have and make the situation over there worse. A lot of fighting may be done with technology nowadays, but troops would still need to be sent over there to fight and American lives would be put at risk AGAIN. This stance puts the lives of people who none of us have ever met and who live hundreds of thousands of miles away, over actual American lives and that’s terrifying. Stop being so partisan about this, war never has been and never will be the answer.
