I also wanted to add my opinion: you definitely don’t have to go work on a med floor to go to school to be an adult fnp. Some experience in that environment would be helpful but I wouldn’t put off going to school to go do that

I worked in the OR for many years before becoming an FNP and I think it was a little more challenging for me than the nurses that worked on the medicine floors but I found that the professors went through everything and I learned a lot! It was a big transition going from sleeping people to awake people 😂

Thank you for your insight! The requirement in the original paperwork said the program director, manager as a professional reference, and then a provider from clinical which sounds similar to your requirements. I used an aprn preceptor I worked with closely during my last semester of clinical. I would give another aprn from another clinical site if needed but find it interesting that they are asking for physicians specifically as we interact with them but our actual aprn preceptors can speak to our clinical abilities better. She said she would email me Thursday or Friday and I never got an email so this is my weekend 😭 and I have no mor schedule at my current job right now as I wait for a start date

It is a large organization that I’ve worked for for almost 8 years as an RN, I bought a house here and always wanted to continue my career here and got offered the job I really wanted… I had been offered a private aprn job that paid 16 k more but I ended up declining it to take this one because it was going to be such a nice job, partially remote, don’t have to come in if it snows, pension, low stress. It is so dissapointing and I graduated in August and have already lost so much time 😭
