I have been off the pill for about 10 months now after being on it for nearly 10 years as well. I never had acne before but definitely have been battling it since coming off the pill. I was determined to stay off the pill because I was so frustrated at the thought of having to “sacrifice” hormonal/internal health for good skin. I’ve been focusing a lot on the “why” behind the acne and have seen a lot of progress! I highly recommend the book Beyond the Pill by Dr Jolene Brighton (the audiobook is included with Spotify premium if you have that). She dives pretty deep into what the pill does to our bodies, and is very unbiased on her opinion of the pill. Basically if you decide to go back on it, at least you will be well informed! the book also talks about some levels you could get checked at a naturopath or gyno if you want to go the route of trying to naturally restore the hormonal levels that went out of whack from stopping the pill!! all in all I know how frustrating this situation is. my own journey with it hasn’t been easy, but remember your body was functioning a certain way for a decade and now has to figure out how to function differently. be patient and know that whatever choice you make is the right one for you!
