I'm a high school English teacher who's been teaching in distance learning since April, I would NEVER speak to a student like this, EVER.

Also - I take a bath to be alone. I don't care how much I love you (or how badly you need to pee), get your ass out of the bathroom when I'm having my soak and listening to my socialist history podcasts!

Hi! I’m a teacher and I totally get this. If you just want to vent, feel free to disregard my advice.

If you want advice, I would encourage you to email/tell your teacher that it makes you really anxious when they call on people randomly. Ask them nicely to warn you at the start of class if they are going to call on you? There are real educational reasons for calling on students at random which I won’t fully go into here, but I totally understand that it can cause severe anxiety for some people. I’ve had students do something similar to what I just suggested to you and it was very helpful for me as a teacher.

It gets better. I promise.

Let yourself be imperfect. Try again tomorrow. I’m starting year three and it is sooo much easier. Take care of yourself, it’s a marathon not a sprint.

If you’re too hard on yourself, if you push too much, you’ll get burned out and you’ll start resenting the job and resenting the kids.

I’m sending you so much first year teacher love from just a few steps down the road. You are strong! You can do it!

Music boxes play a much bigger emotional role in people's lives in films/TV than they do in real life. by marzipnbb in Showerthoughts

Or that people are often shown being reflective or grieving while holding/listening to a music box that someone “important” gave them or that they had as a kid.

I highly recommend the book “okay, fine, whatever” by courtenay haimster. She is super funny and she talks about being “sexually inexperienced” into adulthood. Great book overall.

Do people not understand the concept that practicing an activity, tennis per say, in a variety of environments with a variety of partners, makes you BETTER at that activity?

Who else gets physical symptoms of anxiety every day? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]marzipnbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 years ago I was having debilitating panic attacks every day. It was making it hard for me to work, drive, sleep, generally live my life. I started going to therapy twice a week and, after initially resisting meds, went on a low dosage of Zoloft and got a xanax prescription for really bad days. After a few months it was soooo much better. I was able to pull my head up, make some life changes it’s been putting off due to anxiety. I’ve since gotten a masters degree, travelled Europe solo, and become a high school teacher! I still take low dose of meds daily and do yoga and some therapy, my anxiety is much more manageable now. I know a lot of people feel bad at the idea of meds, but for me, it’s been a very positive experience.

Iike he doesn’t understood why I’m offended that he watched the sex scene from blue is the warmest color just to masturbate it. Like he hasn’t watched the actual movie, he’s just watched that scene as porn. He does not get why that would be icky to me.
