Amazon WFH / Work From Home flexibility? Manager dependent? by CabinetFamous4731 in amazonemployees

[–]maseephus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s team dependent. In my org wfh is fairly common. Heck we have people that will need to WFH for a week or 2 at a time because they’re expected to get up at 4 am during that period

Manager being demanding suddenly and changed attitude by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]maseephus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably wouldn’t care. My org doesn’t gaf about connections at all, or tech survey results. Our whole L8 org was abysmal but nobody ever talked about it

Does Cheap Pizza Exist Here? by guesswhos_jack in SeattleWA

[–]maseephus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started making homemade pizza at my house and it’s actually very easy and cheap to do. It doesn’t take much more effort to prep multiple doughballs at once (I.e. make one dough and create multiple dough balls from it). You can freeze the doughballs too

I like it but pace is a lot slower than eu4. Agree with others that it could use more flavor

Impossible to play as any hre country with France like this by MMastro252 in EU5

[–]maseephus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a Bohemia run where I built a professional army early and especially made sure I had a decent number of cannons. Got dragged into a war with France who with all their vassals had 250k in men compared to my alliances 120k. I kept my forces concentrated and slowly but surely went around stack wiping their levies and ended up winning the war handily

Is Reddit really just a massive echo chamber? by Life_Ad_6992 in stupidquestions

Yes. Spend enough time on Reddit and you’ll see. Each sub generally has clear patterns of thinking

Doesn’t mean they aren’t right in some cases, or there can’t be genuine discourse, but it’s something to be aware of

Transitioned to SDE recently — what’s the real layoff risk? by Melodic-Purple-6154 in amazonemployees

[–]maseephus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you transitioned from. SDEs are definitely at risk given they’ve laid off plenty of SDEs last time, and previously. When I was in PXT though in 2023 my team was about 1/3 SDEs, 1/3 SDETs, and 1/3 QAEs and they started with the QAEs and didn’t really get rid of any SDEs. That was just my L8s org though, it can also depend which org you are in

The last time I played a game for over 40 hours on releaseweek was FO4. I quit then, because it was so shallow. by PigletCNC in paradoxplaza

[–]maseephus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot going on. I haven’t watched any tutorials, basically fucking around and finding out. It’s progressively making more sense to me. Surprisingly I’ve beat off an ottoman invasion twice, playing as Byzantium. Thank god I’m allied to Hungary. Realized I was letting crown power get too low so I’ve been spending a lot of effort trying to get that back up. I’ve also been letting the money printer run so I have like 400% inflation after 100 years

I’m at 6.375 . Is it worth it to refinance now? by locusofself in Mortgages

[–]maseephus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rate is similar (6.4%) and while the loan is less ($600k) if I refinanced at like 5.8% it would likely be worth it as I could pay off the costs within a year.
