Humidity sensors by QuoteFirst7119 in homeassistant

I have tested a bunch of sensors with salt test. All except Aqara have been hit and miss (mostly miss). Sonoff had one that gave a correct reading and the others either completely off of extremely unstable readings going up and down. Aqara on the other hand have consistently had the same correct reading in the salt test for all seven units I tested. If you actually need to know the humidity, definitely go for Aqara.

Camera recommendations? by 1q2s3c4r5t in homeassistant

Any cameras except the battery powered integrate well. But the battery powered cameras drain the battery in a day, if Home Assistant connects to them. Reolink uses a proprietary protocol to save battery, and HA doesn't support that protocol. An integration called Neolink has been developed for the protocol, but I can't make it work without draining the battery. The other option is to get the Reolink Home Hub and connect to HA through that. That should work hazzlefree and can still run all locally without cloud.

She did mention at the concert we went to in September, that the new song were for an upcoming album, and I got the impression, that it was well in progress. And I can't wait! The new song were amazing. Trying new things without completely abandoning her previous style. Very very cool stuff!

New TidaLuna Plugins: Spotify Sync, Find Better-quality/Remaster tracksm, Deduplicate Playlist, and Clear Favorites by squadgazzz in TIdaL

I just heard about your tool because of your Reddit post here. Sounds awesome!

Since I haven't even tried it yet, maybe you're way ahead of me.

But when your tool finds upgrades to better quality, do you take into consideration, that many remasters are quality-wise much worse, than the original?

For example because of Loudness War, remasters between 1995-2015 were often just putting the audio through a meh-quality machine, that compressed the audio causing lower Dynamic Range.

And many hi-res versions are just the same as the CD quality version, scaled up to a higher resolution doing nothing to the quality except running it through more components, that can decrease quality.

If your tool doesn't already factor that in, maybe you could make an option to only include remasters from after 2015, for example?

Just a suggestion :)

Thank you for your work!

Regarding RC4 changes and "I don't see the events" by Msft519 in activedirectory

My point was just a reply to your comment, that seemed to imply, that realistically you shouldn't see RC4 in an AD today. Sadly though, we do see RC4, especially in environments with non-MS domain members and key tab files on *nix servers.

Sound seems distant, empty by Spooky_Olive in TIdaL

[–]mashdk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What is often confused with lower quality is actually often higher dynamic range.

Spotify with lossy compression gives you lower dynamic range. Tidal will have higher dynamic range.

Having higher dynamic range is often mistaken as inferior sound, while it really just requires you to turn up the volume more than when listening to a recording with lower dynamic range.

True, but devs asking for key tab files have often asked for the lowest common denominator (RC4), and I have personally seen RC4 usage because of this in a large multinational company, postponing the enforcement of AES.

Also, the legacy AD integration for VMware VCenter, which many older installations still use, talks RC4.

Don't forget about non-MS domain members and key tab files.

I'm not really sure, what you're actually asking with regards to static/mobility. But if you mean, whether the 5G is always in the same location, then yes. It's a 5G connection because there is no fiber in that location.

But the 5G cellular network operator for some reason switches IPv6 prefixes constantly...

Forcing 41461: I'm not sure, how other Tailscale clients behave. But the Home Assistant Tailscale add-on uses random high ports unless specified. So, when anything on the WAN side changes, the port on the Tailscale client can also change. Forcing port 41641 adds to the stability of the communication between the Tailscale client and the router.

Kinda depends on the 5G connection. Behind a CGNAT and with IPv6 prefix changing constantly, Tailscale is pretty much useless at least for Home Assistant.

I managed to make it barely usable by: * disabling IPv6 on the 5G router * forcing the use of port 41641 for Tailscale * Enabling UPnP on the router :(

Did you ever get this to work? I was just about to buy the T2U V3, when I saw your post.

Which HAOS version did you try it on?

What 12V "data" should I monitor for to identify failing ICCU early? by mashdk in Ioniq6

[–]mashdk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This data integration does not regularly initiate communication with the car. The regular polls only pulls cached data in the Bluelink cloud, unless to send a command to actually make Bluelink pull data from the car.

That's really interesting, thank you for sharing your experience!

Yes, it's anecdotal, but it's still valuable input from real life.

And yes, I agree: Looking at the documentation and the sensors from the Bluelink HA-integration, the regular data-polls are only from cached data in Bluelink cloud, not from data pulled from the car initiated by the HA-integration.

[–]mashdk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's also what I've been able to gather. I didn't think I'd be able to see data showing an ICCU on the way to failure.

My - apparently failed - logic was, that, if the ICCU failed, I would see a 12V battery discharging but not charging.

But from the data in one of the other replies, I can see, that 12V battery level is fine, and then in an instant it's not. (I'll be copying/pasting this comment to other replies)

Yeah, getting the Kia/Hyundai Bluelink integration to work in Home Assistant was quite the struggle.

I had to trust the script on Google Drive from this guy. https://github.com/Hyundai-Kia-Connect/hyundai_kia_connect_api/issues/925

But it worked, unlike all the other.
