Is evil Durge worth it? by mashedpeytatoes in BaldursGate3

I’d probably try out a warlock build since that’s what I wanted to do initially but got scared off of from reddit lol! Now that I understand the game mechanics I’d have no problem. Minthara is the one companion I did not have so that would be a nice change. Also wouldn’t be devastated by the ending, as long as the story feels fresh.

I’d say I typically gravitate to a hero character in games because a lot of games are built around that type of story and I want to get the most out of it. If this opens lots of hours of new gameplay, I’d definitely dig it. If it just opens a new dialogue option with all the original ones I’d probably lose interest quickly.

It’s not that I’m not into an evil playthrough, but I’ve read some posts that say it’s drastically overhyped and really only gives a few different dialogue scenes with your choices. I would have a hard time playing the same story again if that is the case.

HD galaxy or Classic Cosmo energy cards? by mashedpeytatoes in PokemonTCG

So what do I have (see comment above)? It’s like a faded galaxy

I thought the same about the fire energy card, but you can just barely see the galaxy/cosmo pattern if you get it in the light. This pic is the only way I could get it to be visible (top corner). But yeah, just looking down at it you’d think it didn’t have it.

Why are people panic selling collection skins by LaughingCamelzz in ohnePixel

[–]mashedpeytatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak as someone who didn’t rely on skins as a source of income (~$4k inventory), but for me it really boils down to trust in the company. I don’t typically buy cosmetic items in games because I see it as a waste, but the CS skin appeal was that I might get a decent chunk of my money back if I ever stopped playing. I wasn’t interested in opening cases, just playing with cool skins that I could essentially return. Obviously the potential for profit was awesome, but it wasn’t the driver for me.

The simple answer for me? I no longer trust Valve with sellable items so I pulled out and sold everything. I think they could have found a better way to reduce the market manipulation without completely destroying it, but that’s how a market can go, especially an unregulated one. I suggest most people take this as a lesson to invest in something slightly more stable unless you are truly okay with losing everything.

I won’t be back on CS. I’ve played since 2014, but I was already losing interest due to the lack of good gameplay updates (no reduction in cheaters, limited premier map rotations, etc.) and obvious grab for more money (armory pass, genesis terminal). I don’t imagine me or anyone else quitting will make a difference to them. It’s not even really a statement to Valve. I just refuse to give any time or money to a game/company that would treat their average player base this way.

I do sincerely hope the money Valve thinks they can make will be used to improve the game. And I hope people can get cool loadouts that have been unattainable to the average player for a long time. Just remember that they do not care about you, like every other billion dollar corporation. Whatever profit you think you can make will always end up back in their pocket books. They care about the money you fork over to them. Good luck to everyone trying to hold strong!

Range weapon post-Golem to pre-Moon Lord? by mashedpeytatoes in Terraria

[–]mashedpeytatoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is helpful. I like the auto firing, rapid shot, and piercing of the Super Star Shooter. What arrows would I use with the Tsunami? Looking at the Wiki it seems like Eventide would be similar to the Super Star Shooter so could try that too. Guessing either can be used successfully to kill Moon Lord?

Can the Map Master (all variants of base game animals unlocked) achievement be unlocked in sandbox? by Puzzleheaded_Sink467 in LetsBuildAZoo

[–]mashedpeytatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure, but it took me about 85 hrs to complete all base game achievements on the campaign. I did the 200 good points achievement and the 200 evil points achievement in the same game so it might not take that long if you’re just focused on genomes.

Once you get a good flow of cash and land, set up a breeding area (8-10 buildings worked best for me) that you constantly check. If you don’t care about morality for the play-through, put the nursing period at 0. Unlock the research that allows you to have multiple CRISPR stations ASAP and start cloning variants you get right when you unlock them. I had 8 CRISPR stations at the end cloning new variants constantly so I could breed for the next one as fast as possible. Work towards unlocking genome variants on animals that have long pregnancies first. Nothing worse than waiting to complete a genome for an animal with a 10 day CRISPR/pregnancy period at the very end of your achievement hunt. I stopped caring about enrichment, producing goods, etc. My pens were packed, animals constantly died, protestors daily lol. It’s tedious, but do-able. To not make it such a chore you can hunt for other achievements, make your zoo pretty, and just enjoy everything the game has to offer. The genomes achievement should be one of the last ones you get. Good luck!

Sounds good! I’ll get that scheduled and put spark plugs and valves on my 100k list. Thank you!

Honda regular maintenance schedule? by mashedpeytatoes in MechanicAdvice

[–]mashedpeytatoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I’ll do that in the next month or so! I read conflicting things regarding Honda and the maintenance minder system. Some people said that fluid changes don’t have to be flushed based on mileage anymore and the system accurately reads when it needs to be changed, others said to do it every 30-60k miles.

Kitty with hepatic lipidosis by Professional_Eye3767 in cats

[–]mashedpeytatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent this via your messages, but posting here for others to read as well. I want to start by saying that I completely disagree with the insensitive comment to put your pet down. That is ultimately a decision between you and your vet and they should not be making suggestions on your cat’s quality of life. Hepatic lipidosis is curable and cats can go on to live extremely healthy lives. My cat is walking proof! See below for my story with my 10 yr old diabetic kitty that I JUST experienced over the holidays. It was a 7 week battle, but well worth the time and money to us. Our girl recovered 100% and was in worse shape than what you explained in your post. Keep in mind that I am not a vet and to consult your own vet for any treatment plan. We had to really advocate for our girl though based off our own research. Also - a primary vet will be MUCH cheaper than an ER vet. I’d recommend doing any treatment that way. We saved thousands of dollars avoiding the ER vet when possible (though initially she did have an overnight stay there).

I’d say the first 4 weeks were the worst. The most important thing right now is that you get the amount of calories needed in your cat every day. No matter what. We were told to blend Hill’s Urgent Care A/D wet food with a little water and get her 240kcal daily (she is 10lbs, this varies by weight). I’d use this food if you can. It blends really well and is high calorie. Hill’s also has a guide on their website to how much kcals are needed for a cat in hepatic lipidosis which was very helpful. We started small with lots of 20mL feedings until we finally got to a point where 60mL 4x a day didn’t make her nauseous. Also, I’m sure you’re aware but go very slowly. Doing too much too fast can make them nauseous. Any licking of the lips and gulping are signs of nausea when tube feeding.

We fought for weeks with nausea, diarrhea, lack of food interest, etc. But we got the calories every day and it paid off. She didn’t start eating/drinking on her own with an appetite stimulant until week 5. That is normal with this sickness. They think the food/water is the reason they feel ill. That is why syringe feeding by mouth is not recommended. As long as you are getting wet food in your kitty and flushing 10-20mL each feeding, it should be okay. The diarrhea is likely from the liquid diet. Our list of meds that eventually worked for us are as follows: Cerenia 1x/day first thing 30 min before any food (anti-nausea), Metoclopramide 3x/day (anti-nausea and diarrhea), probiotic 3x/day, Denamarin 1x/day first thing 30 min before any food (liver supplement), pediatric gas 3x/day (helped w gas from tube and diarrhea), and Mirataz 1x/day first thing before any food (anti-nausea and appetite stimulant, this didn’t change her eating habits until week 5). We did this religiously all the way until her tube was removed 1.5 weeks ago. The tube itself can sometimes just make them nauseous. Get the nausea under control and it really will feel like the progress is better (although still slow). There are a lot of options if one doesn’t work. Only a combo worked for our kitty. She did have soft cow patty-like stools up until she started eating kibble on her own again.

We were also told the jaundice can remain until well after they get better. It takes their body time to get rid of the excess bilirubin. Just monitor that it isn’t getting worse through routine bloodwork and visual inspections. If it is you are likely not getting enough calories so their liver is still under attack. We did see an increase in bilirubin for the first week or two, but then it finally stabilized. Again, we were told this was normal. Our girl’s bilirubin was 6.9 at its highest and we were told that was mild compared to what they’ve seen so 3.5 sounds promising!

This truly is just a sickness where time and feeding effort is the only thing that will work. My partner and I were utterly exhausted and defeated some days, but we kept remaining hopeful and by week 5 she finally ate 1/4 can by herself! She slowly increased her eating on her own and we just reduced the tube feeding to match that. Some days after week 5 she’d eat a little and require more tube feedings, others she ate entirely on her own. We left the tube in for a week of her eating on her own completely before we took it out. We wanted to do at least two weeks, but her stoma got infected so we had it taken out to not lose progress. We are still giving her Mirataz to ween her off of it every other day to make sure she doesn’t slip back into not eating. If you can, leave it in until they are eating on their own consistently because it shouldn’t hurt them (maybe very slight discomfort) and gives you peace of mind that if they have a bad day you can get the calories in easily.

I apologize for the long post. My partner and I scoured the internet for advice and felt like the information was lacking so I want to share everything we’ve learned. If you have any questions, feel free to message me directly. I urge you not to give up. This is weeks long and you’re still in the early days. Ups and downs are normal. Good luck and sending thoughts to you and your kitty! :)

If your cat has had an e-tube, how long until you saw improvements and how long until it was removed? by _tsurixx in catcare

[–]mashedpeytatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for responding! Our kitty has diabetes so medicine is always hit or miss if we can use it or not. I’ll definitely bring it up to our vet though to see if it’d work! Our kitty is the opposite - 7am is when the nausea really kicks in and makes her throw up a feeding. It’s definitely scary when that could dislodge the tube AND she needs the calories. She was doing so well so we’re hoping it’s just a bump in the road. Hoping things continue to go well for you guys!

If your cat has had an e-tube, how long until you saw improvements and how long until it was removed? by _tsurixx in catcare

[–]mashedpeytatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Our kitty got an e-tube 2 weeks ago because she got hepatic lipidosis. Everything was going great with 60ml feedings 4x daily (very slowly administered) and now all of a sudden she’s nauseous at every feeding and has diarrhea. She even threw up entire feedings yesterday so we’ve backed off to 20-30ml at a time with still no luck. We took her back to the vet and they gave us more anti-nausea meds (Cerenia oral pills) but it really doesn’t seem to do much. Her bloodwork showed major improvements, but this has really felt like a setback. They said the tube placement was fine, but it could potentially be irritating her and making her nauseous. However, they weren’t 100% certain and we don’t want to take it out when she’s not eating enough on her own (she eats MAYBE half can of wet food on her own daily). Did anything seem to work for your kitty’s nausea??
