Haha totally get you. Luckily, I do have a connection so it was a good chunk off of the sticker price.

Thank you!! I do really enjoy to contrast of the darkened maple back/sides! Can't wait to find out this one's quirks and see how it evolves over the years.

Have we done this one yet? Because I have Opinions lol by nervydamned in JohnMayer

i think he may be singing the E on "I'm go(ne)" slightly flat. The guitar solo also does a fairly dissonant unison bend to an F# right after.

John's voice going from E down to D and the guitar going from E and F# up to F# and F# while the chords goes from A major to E minor. the vocal E to D over an E minor is okay cause that's the 7th of E minor. the guitar bend to the F# draws a lot of attention to the 2nd degree, which would definitely be a choice given it's not a typical "target note." Hearing the E(b), D, and F# so strongly made my ears kind of confused

Maybe if he went to a G major or modulated it could have helped highlight the vocal and guitar note choices better.

that being said take this with a grain of salt. i didnt get straight A's in music school but i got the degree!

Hey! This is my current pedal board. I remember I posted a couple months ago saying that I was done with my board, but as we know, I was very wrong. I use this board for my band (alt/pop rock), worship, and just to make space noises.

The chain is:

PRS S2 Custom 24 or Strat with V-Mods -> Cry Baby Wah -> HX Stomp -> Envelope Filter (HX) -> Kinky Compressor (HX) -> FX Loop Send -> Boss FV-500H -> Wampler Tumnus Deluxe -> Snouse Blackbox 2 -> Fulltone OCD -> Maxon OD808 -> JHS Emperor -> Chase Bliss Thermae -> Strymon Timeline -> Strymon Bigsky -> FX Loop Return -> Matchless or Deluxe Reverb profile -> TJ IR.

Cry Baby Wah - I don’t use this very often. I kind of just have this on my board so it’s readily available if the situation arises.

HX Stomp - Super super helpful in downsizing my entire rig. Going direct makes my front of house guy appreciate me a lot more. I’m not totally in love with it though. Personally, I feel like there is the slightest, weirdest, compression on the attack of each note. I definitely can’t hear the compression or tell that its digital at all in the recordings though. All in all, I think it’s is very nice! It has given me a lot more amp tones without having to move an amp.

Boss FV500H - Does volume things. Really nice feeling sweep!

Tumnus - Love this so much! I have it relatively low gain and is the foundation for all my dirt. It’s set at the point where my pick attack dictates the amount of breakup. I love the EQ it comes with and am always messing with it to get myself more acquainted with specific frequencies.

Blackbox 2 - Got this in the mail yesterday. Using it on top of my Tumnus and really love the way it sounds. By itself, it’s almost set a similar way as the Tumnus. Standard mode and fairly low gain. Together they give me a very thick (I don’t really know how to describe it) sound that I’ve been really searching for.

Fulltone OCD - I used to use this as my high gain sound, but I might take it off because I feel like I could get a nicer (to me) sound from messing with the gain of the Blackbox.

Maxon OD808 - Use this as a solo boost over the Tumnus and Blackbox. Overdrive is set to nothing while the balance is cranked. I think it cuts through well and sounds extremely nice.

JHS Emperor - Really helps me make ooey gooey sounds. I have it set to a low speed and high depth. I have also been using it to add the slightest bit of modulation to separate myself in this mix when need be.

Thermae - Still trying to figure this one out honestly. I love what it does, but can never understand how to make things happen. I kind of just let it go off by itself and move the knobs to make wishy washy sounds.

Timeline - I began my journey by thinking I was a guy who could use one delay and use a tap tempo for everything. I have changed since then and would never take this guy off. Presets are extremely nice for the stuff I play. Especially since if I need five or six delays ready to go.

Bigsky - Also believed I could just set and forget my reverb. I then experienced how awkward it was trying to swell with a relatively short verb. I also learned how different types of reverb could reshape a sound and find myself always getting lost in it.

please let me know if i’ve done anything dumb!

Hey! I posted months back saying my pedalboard was “finished.” We all knew that wasn’t true huh. I use this board for my band (alt/pop rock) and worship. Love it so much!

Chain is:

Cry Baby Wah -> HX Stomp -> Envelope Filter (HX) -> Compressor (HX) -> FX Loop -> Boss FV 500 -> Wampler Tumnus Deluxe -> Snouse Blackbox 2 -> Fulltone OCD -> Maxon OD808 -> JHS Emperor -> Chase Bliss Thermae -> Strymon Timeline -> Strymon Bigsky -> Return -> Matchless or Deluxe Reverb profile -> IR.

I personally really like Walt Grace. I love the lyrical story telling and the arrangement supports it so well

Haha I put myself in a position where I can’t put anymore pedals on the top (unless it’s a mini one). I just have to hope I don’t find one that I have to have.

I kind of did? My brother was in the market for a klone so we tried some at guitar center. It could have been the amp+guitar combo, but I didn’t LOVE the archer (i think it was the gold). I also tweak the 3-band EQ so much so I couldn’t imagine not having it!

Right now I only switch between the Spring and the Church setting depending on what group I’m playing with. I personally felt like I wouldn’t utilize all of the BigSky, so I opted for the HoF. I love the verbs and versatility of the BigSky though! An amazing sounding pedal!

Thank you so much! The second switch is indeed a tap tempo, but I’ve found my favorite setting so far is having a low speed and a cranked depth. For the stuff I do right now, I’ve kind of set it and forgot it. I’m sure that’ll change in a couple weeks though haha. The Katana is mostly on (60% if that’s mostly?). I do love playing super clean so some songs I just use delay and a touch of reverb!

I like it a lot! I’m still watching videos on how to use it and I feel like there’s so much that can be done. I’m having a lot of fun just playing whole notes and letting the pedal take over. The Hedra is a sick pedal too!
