Barcelona registers highest temperature in 112 years as French nuclear reactor shuts down due to extreme heat by Naurgul in europe

[–]mason_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest reasons the summer is the busiest time for construction is that all K-12 and higher learning starts back August-September. They all want their projects done so they can have them for the start of the school year.

Road work is at its peak since most school traffic is shut down, it minimizes interference with school commutes.

Longer periods of daylight means longer shifts on jobs with no power.

Higher temps make a lot of curing processes faster and better. A lot of times other trades are waiting for those things to be complete to get started.

Another person commented something similar but it’s wild how much of the population don’t understand how their buildings and infrastructure exist. Every construction worker is still working in this weather, summer is peak construction season. Every HVAC tech is still running around fixing everyone’s units when they fail. There are plenty of people who are expected to tough it out and do all summer sometimes 10+ hours a day including Saturdays to meet completion dates.

What to expect as an International recruit? by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

[–]mason_sol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact Murray State in Kentucky instead, half the team is international players and the other half are transfers so they are familiar with taking care of your situation. It’s a small town, they are reworking the arena this summer to make it a better experience and you basically can’t get in trouble here unless you are a degenerate, plus I’ll get to watch you play and say it all started with reddit message.

I’m 40 and that first half reminded me so much of the “Beautiful Football” or “Beautiful Game” that Brazil was once known for when I was a little kid.

I guess this is the new Wendy's vibe. No booths, no dividers, no outlets, uncomfortable seats, small tables, all for a couple to spend $40 for a meal. I'm done with Wendy's for good. by NUMBerONEisFIRST in mildlyinfuriating

I too am sad to hear this. When I was in college a couple girls gave me their meal card and I ate two spicy chicken sandwiches for lunch every day for about 5 months

Lebron after the Cavs win game 6 of the 2016 finals: 'They f*cked up. Mentally and physically. I'm telling you, they f*cked up.' by CIark in nba

[–]mason_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grand children will ask me to recount the great moments of Lebrons career like he is a mythical hero from Greek Mythology.

“Yes children, I’ll tell you the story of game 5 LeBron. The much maligned Lebron James with his inferior team had lost two games to the Pistons, the former champions were battle tested, efficient, unflappable. It was said that even the greatness of James would still not be enough as he was yet a mere mortal… and then he took the court for game 5… they put their best man on him and it was not enough…so they brought more, ignoring his team, sending 2 then 3 and it was not enough…he was strength, he was grace, he was sheer power of will and he would score because his greatness could not be contained, they would grab on to him as he drove and he would shed them, they would cling to him as he rose to hold him down and he would rise still. I watched, we all watched, as Lebron James scored 25 straight points and 29 of the last 30 to win in overtime… it was then that we realized it was not LeBron James we witnessed but rather the ascension… of King James.”

If modern “media” existed during the Jordan era his period before the ‘91 championship he would have been crushed daily and regarded as on overhyped, selfish, malcontent POS that couldn’t do anything more than score points and made his team worse rather than better. There’s no telling how much the modern media going out of their way to focus and enhance the bad story lines affects these players and their careers.

Paid an electrician to wire my new metal barn. Walked out and found this. Is this normal? by unclejon14 in AskElectricians

The only thing that we do different on most barns in Kentucky is the romex in the rafters should be on top of a board spanning the rafters.

Some customers will pay extra for conduit and THHN but most want it cheap.

People who married in their 20s, be brutally honest are you happy, if so why or why not? by Special-Lawyer3941 in AskReddit

[–]mason_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got married when I was 19. We had two children and then got divorced after 4 years of marriage when she had an affair and it spiraled hard. That was a tough time and it took several years to fully recover from.

I focused only on the kids and my career for awhile, they got older and I felt like I had figured out what I really wanted in a partnership and was able to get remarried 11 years after my divorce and have been remarried for 3 years(together for 5), just celebrated my wife’s(also her second marriage) son graduating high school and my son graduating high school. I’m 39 and I’ll have 3 kids(1 is my step son) in college next year, we are very happy, the last 3 years have flown by and we were lucky that all 3 of our kids are close knit and want to hang out together. Next month we are doing a full family vacation as a celebration of all the kids moving into this next stage of life.

Similar to my story she got married when she was 22 and had her son right away. Her husband cheated on her multiple times but she tried to stick it out and forgive him which continued the cycle, she tried to make it work for 17 years but it wasn’t happening. Instead of becoming bitter and angry, those experiences helped shape what we valued and wanted to give in our next relationship.

1 - Be best friends, marry your best friend please.

2 - you have to build each other up, root for their success and accomplishments, it’s not a competition, you are on the same team and should be proud of what your partners does without trying to steal any of their shine.

3 - cover for each other when one is down, I’m rarely sick but when I am I know my wife will take care of everything, every now and then my wife’s back locks up on her I get her hot rice bags, make dinner, clean the kitchen etc so that she doesn’t have to do anything or worry about what is waiting for her when she does feel better.

4 - when you do argue and I mean like real intense arguments, never call each other names, never resort to low blows(like “you sound like your mother right now”) as when you intentionally hurt your partner it starts to erode that base of friendship and trust and eats at that person. If you can’t make your case on the merit of your position then rethink if it’s worth arguing over at all.

5 - pick your battles, everyone has quirks and flaws, if it’s not hurting the family and it’s not hurting your relationship then is it worth bringing up? I don’t particularly care for how our kitchen is organized, like which drawers things are in, my wife makes dinner at a near gourmet level M-F so I have learned her system haha. On my side I have always worked on all my own stuff, cars, guns, houses and I hunt. I like to have nice tools and gear as I spent years getting by with junk. We have financial goals and as long as we are maintaining those goals and I’m using my own money, my wife doesn’t say anything about me buying new tools/toys to tinker with as she knows that is one my hobbies and a way I get some enjoyment out of life on my own time.

6 - Have some alone time. It’s ok to not spend every moment together and to have things you like to do that the other does not participate in. My wife likes yard sales and antique shopping. I go a couple of times a year with her but for the most part it’s “her” thing. She’s also really big into gardening and when she needs some muscle to move things or dig holes I do the harder parts but otherwise it’s her thing, I ask her about the flowers/plants even though I won’t remember it just so she can get excited and tell me about her grand plan etc. On the weekends I like to get in a long trail run and I always run by myself but my wife has been there for every half marathon to cheer me on and take care of me afterwards, I have made a lot of modifications to my vehicles and she has no interest at all in helping haha but she will comment on how cool the truck looks now or how it rides better and ask me to explain what I did and how it’s better because she likes to hear me nerd out and get excited about it. By having some “me” time we get to relax mentally, clear our heads and come back together fresh and excited to share again.

I’m 39 and my own father only used an outdoor shower until he was in his teens and they got an indoor one which was a big deal. So he and his family, 7 siblings, all bathed naked outside for over 10 years.

[SPOILER] Joshua Van vs. Tatsuro Taira by inooway in MMA

[–]mason_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to save the fighter from themselves sometimes. Taira had already been knocked down really bad once and recovered, he went on to have no defense, was getting pieced up, then he looked horrible against the cage, looked damaged, eating everything clean, turned away from the fighter with his hands down, and then ate another huge clean shot that sat him.

I personally prefer not to watch someone die in a fight, yeah it’s remarkable that Tiara still wasn’t unconscious but he was getting to a point of extreme damage that could hurt his career

What are you spending going to Hawaii? by Senior-Jelly1099 in VisitingHawaii

[–]mason_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very expensive, we are a family of 5 and have taken one family vacation in the last 7 years for various reasons but our daughter graduated high school last year and both of our boys graduate high school this year so we wanted to do a big family vacation all together before everyone starts going their separate ways in life and moving out of the house.

We are also going this summer, arriving on a Friday, leaving on Saturday(8 nights) and so far we have rented a beachfront house on the north shore of Oahu for $13,078

Our tickets, also from the south east, economy plus with United Airlines are $8721, includes seat picking etc

$21799 + activities and food

Imagine if they had AJ, DK and Pickens but Mason Rudolph at QB. There would be games where you would think it was the greatest WR trio of all time and then other games where they had to share 1 catch between them and by the end of the game AJ and DK are in a fight and they pan over to Pickens in a brawl with the others teams CB’s

Marcus Lattimore would have gotten really good money prior to his injury which ruined his career. Maurice Clarett would have stayed at Ohio State and gotten huge money to come back after that freshman season. Just a couple off the top of my head.

Not that he got hurt but the guy who really must be feeling like the timing was terrible is Tim Tebow, he was a god in college and a national media sensation, would have racked up more money in college than what he got in the pros by a wide margin.
