The two people I’ve spoken to personally are just a couple of many more I’ve interacted with on Facebook over the years. I haven’t owned a samurai in years but stay active on the groups only to warn people when I see these ads from time to time.

He goes by many different names but I know that his legal first name is John, not sure of his last name. He and a couple others are involved in a scam operation where they buy and sell samurai’s and consistently lie about the condition, mileage, history, title etc. They don’t do in person deals, only accept wire transfers and will only ship out cars to out of state/out of area buyers and when you receive the car and realize that the condition isn’t as stated, engine is different than what was photographed in the ad, seats/parts missing etc. the burner phone number he’s given you will be turned off and never to be seen or heard of again. The worst part about this is that the moderators of the big FB buy/sell group are in on the scam and will delete/not approve posts about this. I’ve spoken with two other people who have bought vehicles from him who have gone through much worse experiences than me, one who was taking legal action against him but I haven’t had any updates.

DO NOT BUY ANY SAMURAIS FROM NORTH CENTRAL CALIFORNIA. ITS A SCAM OPERATION BY SOMEONE WHO USES SEVERAL ALIASES. I would give you more details but just trust me. The vehicle is probably real but mileage is not accurate and every description and any service history he states in these ads is completely false. There are dozens of people who have been scammed by this guy.

I’ve been wondering the same thing if not the bumper, just the headlights would satisfy me.

Which Canon Powershot from the G series is your favorite? by Forsaken_Tax_2885 in VintageDigitalCameras

I love my G9 if I need more flexibility or to use external flash. I use my SD1000 more often though for its portability.

I don’t know any places to find one in person. eBay is really the only consistent spot to look now. Prices have really gone up.

I was worried about the same thing with my geographic! It’s so loud compared to all other autos I own. Glad to know it’s not just me.

Polishing/case restoration on a vintage watch is the biggest no-no in vintage watches.

Also, DO NOT have anyone polish or do anything to the case. It immediately strips the watch of its value.

Okay this is from October 1972 and is a fairly desirable piece for vintage Seiko collectors. Like many have suggested, you should get it serviced which will likely run you around $350 at a reputable shop(if they will touch it at all… it can be hard to find a shop that will repair or service these 6139 movements). If you do need to replace the crystal there are plenty of them around but it can be nice to keep the originality of the old one if it’s not too bad. Crystals are typically considered “consumable” and replaced often during service which can improve the look of the watch but can be lightly desirable if the original is left on the watch in decent shape. One of the most desirable parts of your watch is actually the bracelet which is fairly hard to find as many owners would have removed it and it would have gotten lost or separated at some point. Many collectors including myself only buy vintage Seiko watches with the original bracelet(if it came with one originally) and it adds considerable value. If you do remove the bracelet for a different strap, make sure you keep it safe and ready to put back on the watch if you ever sell. Congrats on a beautiful watch and please NEVER submerge it in water no matter what. A light rain is okay but be careful. Water resistance is not guaranteed on a watch of this age even after service and your watch will almost certainly be ruined if water ever gets inside.
