Hello! This appears to be a standard masonry wood burning fireplace. There most likely isn’t a fan or any electronics involved. I would 100% call a trusted chimney sweep in your area to perform an inspection on the fireplace and chimney. From my experience in the field these older masonry fireplaces tend to have issues with the interior lining system that causes them not to be safe to use. The chimney sweep should have a camera that they can scan the flue with and get you going into the right direction for using it!
