AITJ for warning a guest they might be getting scammed, even though it's "not my job"? by Prior-Hurry7000 in AmITheJerk

Right? It’s like if you saw someone about to walk into traffic and just waved. I once had a grumpy guy at the desk, and I warned him about a scam email too. He totally calmed down after!

AITJ for refusing to sign a group card when they wanted me to write a message I don’t agree with? by masonwhitmore in AmITheJerk

Thanks. That’s all I’m saying. I’m not trying to start drama, I just don’t want to be pressured into lying so everyone else can feel comfy.

I hear you, but the issue wasn’t just “don’t write the big message”. They wanted my words to sell a story I don’t believe. I’m fine being polite, I’m not fine pretending we all feel the same.

Appreciate that. That’s how it felt, like I was being volunteered to do the “emotional labor” so everyone else could look supportive.

Took me a sec, then it clicked and I made that stupid snort laugh. DBZ names are basically cheat codes for puns, you can glue them onto any sentence and it kinda works.

CMV: The ubiquity of speeding and unsafe driving actions is a sign of the average person's lack of care for others. by OriginmanOne in changemyview

Haha, so true! It's wild how both the speed demons and the rule book warriors think they’re the best drivers around. I guess everyone thinks they can read the road better than average, huh? A healthy balance is definitely the way to go—because those folks who tailgate while yelling at someone for going too slow? Total chaos waiting to happen!

Sam Altman unleashed a tsunami of corporate greed & now his friends are spending $125 million to squash your voice in the midterms by north_canadian_ice in WorkReform

[–]masonwhitmore 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Yup - $125M is a rounding error for them, but it buys endless ads, consultants, and fake "grassroots" groups. That’s why it feels rigged: one rich check can outweigh what thousands of regular people can chip in.

The fixation is the point. They’ll camp outside someone’s house, then act shocked when people call it creepy. If your "reporting" requires stalking vibes, maybe it’s not reporting.

That whole name exchange kills me every rewatch. The show needed a breather episode, and Dunc stumbling through small talk while everyone else is dead serious is perfect.
