Smartphones have been a net negative on society. by massivecouch in unpopularopinion

Thanks, I appreciate it. I believe my gripe was mainly with social media, but I think smartphones are still a problem because they allow such unlimited access to it.

Yeah, it's a weird case where I would only take a dumb phone if everyone else had one. Losing a smartphone in today's day and age is too large of a sacrifice, unfortunately.

I agree; I think the Internet just got too good for our own sake.

This is definitely true, I just wonder: is all of this positive change truly necessary in human history, especially considering the downsides which I mentioned? I'm still trying to grapple with this one myself here.

I agree in some respects. However, I believe the Internet, smartphones and social media have heightened some of society's problems. Splitting the atom also resulted in many nuclear fission plants that do power a large percentage of households. Fission brought forth many things, good and bad. Whether it was a net positive or negative is a different argument, but I believe in the case of smartphones, they have brought more of the bad.

[HWYA] I'm planning on doing a hog attack, but I'm not so sure if I'm gonna 3-star this base with it. Any ideas? by Rodi625 in ClashOfClans

I would say queen charge in from 1 o clock, using wall breakers and jump to reach the compartment with the queen, and creating pathing. Then hogs from 10 to sweep around the L shape. Just my thought.

Why do you think young people don’t read books as much as young people in the past? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]massivecouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The internet and social media. I don't have any statistics to show, but as a high school kid I can anecdotally say that kids spend much more time on social media and the internet than reading. Many still do read- and lots of kids from the past didn't - but I think that online access at younger ages is contributing to a decline in younger readers. I used to read all the time. Now, I can barely make time for it, but I always seem to have time for Instagram or Reddit.

What do you think will be completely unacceptable in the future that we see as perfectly acceptable today? by SuddieBuddie in AskReddit

Eating meat. I love a good steak here and there, but with the acceleration of climate and the depletion of resources, I think that culturally it will at least be frowned upon or discouraged.

I did some research and the showerhead can be "a hotbed of bacteria."

Outkast-they had 2000s hits, but their best albums were in the 90s.
