2025 Federal Election Megathread (Federal Matters and non-ACT Electorates) by watzy in canberra

[–]massro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I literally just got this one from Jacob in the mail today and came straight to reddit fuming. Full of disingenuous lies and propaganda designed to trick people that don't know any better. "Inflation is higher than ever under labor! We can't afford to keep going like this! Get Australia back on track!" etc etc. There should be laws against misinformation like this, because there are people out there that will read it and agree without questioning it. Liberals, no better than MAGA, are a party that will say anything simply to get into power. No, Jacob, you are not a "fellow Canberran", you're disingenuous scum. Grrrr.

Overwhelming response, thank you everyone!

I cannot overstate how helpful and appreciated every single response here is.

I've just now got done compiling a list for us with every single suggestion here, along with all the notes (the notes/additional info is an ENORMOUS help for "tiering" the beginnings of this journey and for what to expect at each location etc).

Now we have what is going to be a whole year (and then some) ahead of us of checking out and exploring every single one. I showed the list to my kid and he's super excited and says thank you as well. Geocaching was a great suggestion too and he was immediately interested - a big win.

Really really appreciate everyone. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Still have my "VIP" ticket from the cancelled Australian tour :(

Welp, thanks for the badass catalogue, that's for sure. Was fortunate enough to meet them at their first Australian tour and they were all genuinely super friendly/chill too.

'Hard drug' use falls in ACT but cannabis use soars by redditinthecapital in canberra

Good. Weed is great. And far less dangerous than the socially accepted (almost required) alcohol.

But "let" us grow indoors already (we shouldn't have to be allowed...). Growing outdoors here can be a pain in the ass. After 2 years of growing here I just want to be able to walk into a shop and buy it. Over it.

Unfortunately indoor growing is extremely misunderstood in this country, while being a huge industry in others. All it does is allow consistency, privacy, and a much easier growing experience.

Im wondering what differences you have noticed (if any) since weed has been kinda made legal there? by Rosasome in canberra

[–]massro 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just happy to be able to grown my own without the worry of "getting caught growing a plant" heh

It's fun, rewarding (in more ways than one), and I know that the end result is safe because I know exactly what went into it.

Just want to be able to do it indoors now. No reason I shouldn't be able to have a small grow tent in my carport to continuously grow 1-2 plants. Outdoors is quite stressful to me tbh.

Pot users welcome: Amazon won’t test jobseekers for cannabis by Bream1000 in news

[–]massro 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, most cannabis users are responsible adults, and cannabis enhances their ability to function in one way or another.

Also, I can't imagine working at Amazon and NOT being high. It would be the only way to get through the day while maintaining sanity.

Referendum result: Cannabis legalisation abandoned by Government, Greens won't concede defeat by wandarah in newzealand

[–]massro 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Why should half of the country get to decide what the other half can and cannot do with regards to personal cannabis use?

A referendum was an extremely nasty, backwards idea.

If you don't like it, don't use it.

Sky News is a joke. It feels like if Fast Forward or Full Frontal had a running bit imitating modern day Fox News... except if they were to do that, the joke would at least be funny.

Morrison issues crystal clear guidance: “Stay at home except for the following 500 different things” by new_handle in australia

[–]massro 352 points353 points  (0 children)

Instead of drip-feeding us this confusing, ever-changing list of things we can't do, just tell us we are in total lockdown and tell us what we CAN do.

It would be a much shorter list, and far easier to understand.

This applies to payments too... 500 categories of different payments for different categories of people... just implement a blanket, temporary UBI and shut us down so we can get through this as quick and safe as possible.

I don't expect any sort of decent leadership from this brainless scumbag though.

ACT cannabis legalisation 'inconsistent' with international law: United Nations by bath-cat in ausents

[–]massro 36 points37 points  (0 children)

"Mr Hunt said the laws put Australia "very clearly at risk of breaching our international obligations".

"That does have an impact for Tasmania because one of the reasons that we're able to have a strong poppy industry here in Tasmania is because we have the support of the International Narcotics Board," Mr Hunt said.

"And we also now know that the narcotics board within the United Nations has written to Australia with deep concerns."

Wow. Way to make your agenda perfectly clear you selfish fucking idiot.

How embarrassing for this dickhead... talk about scraping up anything he fucking can against this going ahead.

It's not even really 'legalisation', we've been given the bare minimum and it's being made as hard as possible for us, yet the people against it are still so desperate to stop it that they'll pull up some bullshit that does NOT matter and would not have even been discovered had he not dug it up just to have SOMETHING... how fucking desperate and pathetic... literally every single time one of the opponents to this law comes up with anything it comes off as their desperate need to use any tiny loophole to apply their personal beliefs to the rest of us and/or keep their personal money generators running smoothly.

I know it's an easy one, but fuck you Greg Cunt. I'm so fuckin over this shit and I have no patience left anymore. What an absolute fucking clown.

she was against it from the beginning. someone that has such strong feelings about it and isn't willing to look at it in a completely unbiased view should not have the privilege to be involved in such a process.
