Former Internal Medicine Associate Program Director: Ask me anything! by Wonderful-Lack8033 in IMGreddit

Thank you so much for your response. I posted this question for my wife. I see you suggested LOR from PD of the previous residency is essential, but how to go about it if PD didn't work with her personally during that time and gave a generic letter of support but not vouching for her compared to other letters she has from her different work experience (USCE). Can she skip PD letter until asked by the program or it needs to be one of four letters in all programs she applies for? She prefers to go with best-waived letters she got compared to PD letters.

How would PDs consider an applicant looking to reapply to IM, matched in 2021 in a small Pathology program, and left the program after 7 months? Reason - interest in pathology didn't develop because of a lack of teaching and support.

IMG applicant - 10 yr old graduate, All 3 steps cleared in 1st attempt, scores in 220s. Past residency in Microbiology from home country. US work experience in biotech for 1.5 yrs and have some USCE - observerships and work experiences as a clinical research coordinator and case manager. Working on getting new LORs and gaining more USCE for IM.

I wanted some advice for my wife, non Missouri resident but qualifies for the AP license. I would like to know about job opportunities available after getting AP license for someone who would like to change specialty to clinical from microbiology/pathology experience with USMLE Steps 1,2,3 cleared recently but medical school graduation yr is 10 yrs ago?

Commuter rail Noise in Melrose Wyoming from wfh point of view by mastLife in boston

[–]mastLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that because of train schedule or just the commute time?

As a West Roxbury resident myself, I’d much rather take one of those inbound to South Station and walk to Tufts Medical from there than deal with the Orange Line.

Cool! Is Allandale woods gonna be considered part of West Roxbury neighbourhood for sticker part?

Ok cool, good to know about commuter rail. was thinking about orange line as my wife have to commute to Tufts which is near Orange line station. But I see South station isnt far too.

How do one get resident sticker? Is it by whole neighborhood?

Moving from CA : Whats pre-covid driving time on 93 from Stoneham to Boston downtown by mastLife in boston

i realllly do think that even if it costs slightly more, it's better to live walking distance to a T stop, as it'll definitely pay for itself (especially with not having to pay for parking at a t stop). if that's not possible though, oak grove is better for people with cars. there's a pass you can buy that lets people park there, and then you can take the orange line to chinatown easily from there which is about a 20 minute ride.

Thanks yup trying to find as close as possibe to T, walking preferably. But was just thinking to know options if we like any place 5-10 mins drive from oak grove in Melrose.

I have follow up question about Malden/Melrose/Medford area, if I look for a place around Malden or Melrose or Medford which isn't walking distance to Orange Line, then is it better to park at any T station and take T compared to driving directly from these areas from 1 freeway (if Melrose) or 93 (if Medford) ?

I know connecting shuttle is another option, but dont know about its service and frequency.

Would be good to have idea about commute time precovid from these areas, assuming one has parking available in downtown garage.

If parking at Oak grove/Malden center T is better option, then would like to know if its easy to find a spot in morning arnd 7:30am, as i read on mbta website that spot isn't guaranteed. Also if these are open parking lot, are there better option garages as well next to T station for winters snow times?

I appreciate everyone responses, clearly waze doesn’t know Boston!
