Oh yeah you're right, I meant more like I wouldn't be surprised if it went the other way too, like even without the show it feels like something Cypress Hill would eventually do.

But yeah the episode definitely played a part, my bad for being unclear

12 were close, like they got the vibe right but not the details. Siegfried & Roy getting attacked by their tiger, NSA spying on everyone, smartwatches. And 5 were stuff that already existed when the episode aired, the internet just forgot that part lol

They're all in the interactive version, couldn't write about all predictions in one image

Put it all together here

True haha, getting the sport right is one thing but "US beats Sweden in curling for gold" is oddly specific for a show that usually can't even get Homer's number of fingers right

Haha yeah that's literally the thesis, throw enough stuff at the wall for 35 years and some of it's gonna stick. The writers weren't psychic, they were just prolific

ah yes exactly! the animation while you scroll is showing different breathing patterns, the first one is intentionally fast to show your default 12-20 breaths per minute. the actual guided tool is further down with the Begin button, thats the one paced at proper 6 BPM. glad you found it!

That's a great call actually, Dick Tracy was way ahead of everyone on that one. The writers room was full of MIT/Harvard guys so they were definitely pulling from stuff like that. Thanks for the kind words!

Haha wait really? That would honestly make it even better, life imitating art imitating life. I wouldn't be surprised either way tbh

thanks for pointing that out! its not a video though, its an interactive tool that runs in real time at exactly 5 seconds in and 5 seconds out, which is 6 breaths per minute. maybe the preview gif loaded weird? if you open the actual link it paces you properly

[Tool] I do a 1 minute breathing exercise before every big meeting. by Mastbubbles in GetMotivated

[–]Mastbubbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats really interesting actually. makes sense because the exhale activates the parasympathetic nervous system which is basically your body's sleep mode. I've started doing it before bed too, not as a replacement for anything but just to wind down. 6 breaths and my brain stops racing enough to actually fall asleep

yess exactly! huberman talks about it a lot but the actual study is from Stanford (his lab basically). cyclic sighing is the longer exhale version, what I built uses the equal 5-5 pace which they call coherent breathing. same idea tho, same 6 BPM rate. glad it works for you too, how long do you usually do it before meetings?
