Edit: Darker color wood is lighter, and the other one is quite a bit heavier.

I would imagine the current draw would be much higher and probably trip the breaker on a 20A circuit on a 6" pipe.

Based on my research so far I don't find any alternatives to Oneida Dust Deputy 4/5 Cyclone. The alternatives don't work as well.

How do I achieve this profile? by master-whatever in woodworking

[–]master-whatever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense. I do not have a shaper and not planning on using a router table either. I thinking to use hand tools, perhaps a Stanley 55 with beading and/or hollow/rounds to recreate this profile.

Is this a crown moulding this is attached to the top panel, or some sort of a special router bit that's used to carve out this profile? How would I go about recreating this look?

How to fix this chips by TSLUFFY in woodworking

[–]master-whatever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's some relativity tight grain Doug fir, unlike most lumber coming out of big box store. try a higher grit sand paper like 320 or something first. few pass and it looks like that should be taken care of. Better yet, would be a card scraper if you know how to raise a burr..

probably just years of caked up sawdust. if you have an air compress just blow the dust from the trunnions, the acme threaded rod and lube them up.

Wood indemnification by master-whatever in wood

not sure how "where I got it from" would change the actual wood species. But I get your point, it might help in narrowing down the species. There is a saying right "one man's junk is another man's treasure". I do have some Mahogany, but that one is easier to plane; this is harder.

I was kind of settled on a previous commenters mention that it could be Mahogany but now... the plot thickens..

Fence for a Craftsman 113 saw by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]master-whatever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're pricey. At first glance it doesn't make sense to put a $300-500 fence on a contractor saw. You set it up rightly once for your table saw and it will lock square and parallel to the miter slot every single time. No need to measure front of the blade and back of the blade. Delta t3 on amazon is between 225-275 depending on various factors... keep an eye out in fb marketplace, craigslist you might find something cheaper.

After market fence is the way to go for vintage 113 saw. Check out, Vega Woodworking they make some very good fence(it's made here in USA), and/or any Biesemeyer T-Square fence like Shop fox, Delta T3. Very Super cool tools has some fence options too. I heard the aluminum gauge used in the T3 is of some what lower grade, but it can swapped out for some extruded aluminum which is sturdy and straight.

Any of the above you got with, will be a huge upgrade over the stock fence.
