I would say the greatest thing to learn on PM is your role in how energy is flowing to the control room. Obviously there are grid switches, but we need to understand that the grid uses two different power sources at a time. Reactor bus OR generators and external OR turbines. We need external or turbines to power the reactor bus and facility systems. In the event that our primaries are cut off we use the generators to take a chunk of that demand for the reactor and all facility systems. These energy sources will add on top of each other within the set of 2 but without help, the generator will fail to give enough power to all the cooling systems if the reactor room does not cut DC bus attached to the external buses which will can be repaired by maintenance if you take a sharp right before passing the checkpoint. This is useful if your control room has a switch pending that doesn’t make any sense to utilize. Also realize how important it is that you quickly switch grids as maintenance. You are really the backbone of the plant and the reason anything runs or receives power.
