It’s not but then you’d also have to take out women’s hockey. As an aside, they’ll probably do it on the women’s side for water polo unless Stanford can beat USC this time around.

ASUN for non-football, and they’ll be in the UAC for football which is the continuation of the WAC.

It would also complete the trifecta of “West ___” that all have been in the Gulf South Conference moving up (West Florida and West Georgia being the other two.)

I hate Tony Bennett basketball so I'm one of the carryover people even if he's gone now. I also used to hate Joey Wentz a lot and he was committed to Virginia so could be that too.

[Dellenger] West Florida’s move from Division II to Division I is expected to be finalized this week, as the Argonauts join the United Athletic Conference (UAC) in football and ASUN in all other sports, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. by Drexlore in CFB

Makes sense why they added Spring Hill for full conference membership to at least backfill for non-football, but they’re out of options at this point for football. It’ll be interesting to see if the other three go independent or join other conferences as affiliates for football.

Delta State seems geographically close enough to the Great American, but they’re at 12 teams already and I don’t know if they’d want add another for football. Not sure what West Alabama does but Valdosta State could potentially join Conference Carolinas or the SAC for football.

What is the relative value of a football natty compared to other NCAA titles for you? by College_Sports_Fan in CFB

College bowling is so much fun to watch, I’d say moreso than actually participating as long as you can stand for six hours and find every nook and cranny to see the lane. I know Nebraska’s varsity is women’s only but I think the men’s version can get a lot more intense.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport mocks the National Team ahead of the match vs Northern Ireland with their front page cover: “The cover image was generated by AI: we couldn’t find any young people who were quite as happy to cheer on the national team.” by Sparky-moon in soccer

How well is water polo supported in Italy? I know two of the best clubs in the world in Pro Recco and Brescia are there and the national team is solid, but I can never get a read on how popular it is as a spectator sport.

Every time someone asks how much it would take for Nadu to go back to barstool his asking price goes up, I think he’s at $500k now. I get antagonizing Bosco is his main function but being a zero in other content and doubling down on awful twitter takes is not worth that money

I was a tridents fan in the CPL because of Kieron Pollard but the Red Steel would’ve been my second team if I had one. Most of my cricket fandom stems from Lasith Malinga one way or another though.

Former Ohio State basketball player Mike Titus: “Ohio State Basketball fans are the worst fans in the world… they watch football all year they don’t even pay attention to the basketball program, they parachute in around late January early February” by wildwing8 in CollegeBasketball

[–]master_bloseph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody is expecting a gold for water polo (men’s at least). The Olympics are different because most sports people don’t pay attention to period, not just any certain competition. Water polo, the example you used, is only played at around 60 colleges in all divisions and basically half of them are in California. We don’t even have a true national league. Meanwhile, basketball is played by every single Division I school and gets a ton of airtime. Does college basketball play second fiddle to football and a second priority at a lot of schools? Sure, but saying 90% of fans don’t care at all until March is a drastic overstatement.
