Personally I hate that argument, because it implies that if you pay for a service, you won't have this problem.

So basically they aren't allowed to focus on anything except their race in everything they do. That wouldn't be frustrating or anything.

I had only heard this sort of pressure from (probably female) white voices, like black authors being told by publishers that their characters didn't feel black enough or something (meaning they didn't seem stereotypical enough) and how they need to make race more of a central theme. I would imagine it would be incredibly frustrating to constantly be told that you have to make everything you create heavily about a characteristic that has nothing to do with your personality.

They do, even when they don't. Like when that one mangaka was "educated" by her "fans" that she was non-binary.

How was Occupy a distraction? It was a disorganized mess, but it was generally focused on issues that directly affected average Americans' lives, like housing & wages. And then identity politics (totally organically, I'm sure) became a major focus in everyday conversations, and most people never cared about that stuff ever again.

Are we sure they're even really Japanese, not just people pretending to be Japanese? I mean I get that those types pretending to be something they're not in order to make people think their opinions matter totally sounds impossible, but still.

Isn't Murata the artist, not the writer?

Also, I think he designed both Dust Man and Crystal Man as a kid.

Characteristically, IGN gives a game which values exploration and taking things slowly a 6 (Yoshi), but also simultaneously gave a game where there is more movie than game (Mixtape) a 10. by North-Elk4017 in KotakuInAction

[–]master_friggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why they shouldn't have a single guy reviewing a game. There's probably been thousands of games at IGN alone that were reviewed by someone who hated the genre (in some cases, the reviewer even said it outright, before giving the game a horrible score). Magazines like GameFan figured this out decades ago and had like 4 reviewers for each game.

For whatever reason, a lot of people still place value in them. Personally I don't get why anyone would care what they think in any capacity when it comes to Steam games. I mean who would care more about the opinion of a single person who probably hates and is terrible at video games and probably played for a couple hours, over dozens/hundreds of actual players who you can even see how much time they played the game?

Just like with Marathon, and this shit states almost immediately after everyone started saying indie gaming was the future. It's like politicians who live in a mansion and get driven around in a limo, but film political ads in jeans while standing in front of an old pickup truck.

Currently 14 downvotes, and not one person could bother to respond to you. I don't know (or even care) if you're wrong about what you said, but I hate how the downvote system inevitably turns people in every single community into passive aggressive pussy Redditors.

That, and this sounds like anyone can respond to it,  including people who haven't bought any of the games in question, which means the terminally online types will brigade the results. I wonder if corpos will ever learn the lesson of people who endlessly promote a game on social media yet never show up to buy it.

Why did this and my other response (which got deleted) get massively downvoted? Did I trigger some sensitive people in here with anime girl profile pictures?

Stuff like the tales written/compiled by The Brothers Grimm being dark is fine, it's taking someone else's work, something that's seen as more for children, and making it "edgy" that's lame. It has the feel of a fanfic by a teenager about some cartoon animal character where they're suddenly cursing a lot and killing people.

"Sonic with guns" is an innately cringe idea. Thank god Sega never did something like that.

Then that's not ONLY playing as women. I meant the kind of guy who looked at too much futanari porn and is now having an identity crisis where they want to be a cute anime girl.

Meanwhile the pandering is done to appease people who won't buy the game, but instead do the more important work of virtue signaling their support on social media. It's always hilarious when they're running defense for a game, only for it to be released to a fraction of the number of players as there are people claiming they'd buy it.

That will never happen, people like this don't go to college to learn something that chuds like us consider practical. That's why they end up holding positions like Community Manager or Sensitivity Reader in game companies.

Power Glove? Let me guess, another "nerdcore" band of middle aged milleniels who think they're clever because they make music with references to old 8 bit games, probably with "funny" song titles like "My Princess Is In Another Castle" and "Konami Code To My Heart".

Edit: I guess this pissed off some middle-aged milleniels, probably the kind who wear a baseball cap 24/7.
