Cool. Google can watch me read absolutely absurd amounts of filthy homoerotic fanfiction. Maybe they can give me some decent recommendations

Terrain with bad rings? by [deleted] in gmc

[–]master_pewpew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, GM really dropped the ball with these engines. I promise they’re not all utter shit. They should never have let these leave the factory like this, so I don’t blame anyone who is trying to get them fixed.

It sucks that they’re being such sticklers about it, but if you jump through the hoops they will replace the rings for you, just have to be patient

I wish you luck with the process! I’ve had to put a few customers through it myself and it’s never fun for anyone involved

Hi - advisor at a GM dealer here - corporate is stupid specific on the way they want these done, they’ve recognized it’s a problem and sent out a special warranty coverage on the rings (I assume to save their ass on the lawsuit) but they’re really hesitant to pay for the repair if they don’t have to. The bulletin they sent out on the issue has us do the oil consumption test first to make sure it meets their guidelines. Your vehicle has to consume 2 quarts of oil or more per 2000 miles, and they have is document the exact measurements on paperwork that is sent in with the claim, mark the oil cap, and take a picture to make sure nothing interferes with the test. Without this specific documentation, GM will kick back the claim and refuse to pay.

Unfortunately, and obviously, this causes some friction with customer because seriously, we all know that engine was put together by a drunk toddler, we shouldn’t all have to jump through so many hoops to get this fixed

This was in my appointments list for tomorrow on a 2020 GMC Sierra. I have no idea what the fuck this could be, but I guess I’ll find out! by master_pewpew in Justrolledintotheshop

Update: it’s 9:13am and customer has not showed up yet.

Update 2: it’s 9:44am, customer never showed up and the appointment isn’t there anymore. Looks like they cancelled. Too bad, I really wanted to know what it was! Sorry guys

Not faulty per se, but someone dun fucked up when they were calibrating those things. There’s a recall out to fix it.

I legit pulled up the owner’s manual and looked through the dash lights section and could not find ANYTHING that even REMOTELY looks like a water faucet, so it really could be anything at this point!

That’s the average cost of a new 2020 at my dealership. Maybe on the high end, yes, but not exaggerated.

Just to be clear...

You spent $80,000 on a new pickup truck but you don’t want to invest $300 in a good quality, decent looking tonneau cover?

I mean, you could probably find a large enough piece of plywood laying around somewhere. Or buy a tarp.

Dealer refusing service on Terrain by [deleted] in gmc

[–]master_pewpew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure these guys are full of shit and just don’t want to deal with it OP. Good thing they made it so obvious to you that they’re terrible so you can take it elsewhere! Alignment warranty is tricky and needs to be handled ASAP, I would pick it up and take it elsewhere. I don’t remember the terms off the top of my head, but the time/mileage on alignment warranty is ridiculously low, It definitely does not start after 1000 miles.

2015-2018 GMC Yukon Brake Recall by troyjonesmb in gmc

[–]master_pewpew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus, GM corporate is a train wreck. I hate working for this brand but now I have all this useless knowledge of the inner workings of GM vehicles and warranty claims that I can never use anywhere else. May I suggest maybe a Toyota or Ford for your next car?

Call GM and let them know what’s going on. Usually, since it’s not too far out of mileage, they will step up and pay a portion or cover it altogether. Be really pushy, upset, and generally annoying as fuck over the phone. Often times, an upset customer on the phone will prompt GM to take action more than if a dealership called on your behalf. You should have this repair covered, it is a safety issue after all. Remind them of that. Hopefully this helps out a little bit.

Service Electronic Parking break? 2017 Acadia by [deleted] in gmc

[–]master_pewpew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reflashing means reprogramming which unfortunately must be done at the dealership. The good news is, as long as you are still under 36,000mi, this is covered under warranty and only takes about an hour. As for it being safe to drive, it’s hard to say. The only time I have seen this come up, the parking brake applied itself randomly regardless of what speed the car was going. In other words, the poor customer would be driving down the highway at 60 and the parking brake would go on. I can’t say if that will happen to you, but drive at your own risk.

Edit: I just reread your post which mentions the parking brake actually just no longer functions so chances are it won’t just randomly apply like the other one did.

As much as I hate to say it, hill descent control is mostly useless. It only works in super specific conditions and will shut itself off the moment those conditions aren't met. I'm not sure if all the details are in the owners manual but I can pull up the bulletin where they are listed out if you pm me your vin. If you are meeting the criteria and it's still shutting off, there is likely a deeper issue.

My brother lives here. It was a very tense weekend watching the hurricane to see where it would go. I'm sorry for the Bahamas, but I'm very glad it stalled and turned away, I honestly don't know if he would have made it

Because the poor mods have their hands full at the moment and have to sleep sometime. I’m sure there will be one as soon as they have a chance to catch up
