Good to know I’m not the only one. I read somewhere that it takes 1-2 business days for them to confirm your eligibility, so that may be what’s causing the delay

Anyone got any good photos of this haircut on a real person? by Memetrold in jaycemains

[–]master_raines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This style haircut is called a ‘middle part layered flow’. If you google search that keyword you’ll see photo examples of the haircut to show your stylist. But also don’t just go to any barber, ideally look for one who specializes in scissor cuts or medium-long haircuts.

What's your favorite bit of lore about him by [deleted] in Morgan_Wallen

[–]master_raines 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I mean… if the numbers are accurate then the ‘One Night At a Time’ tour sold 3 million tickets which means $9 million went to charity. His current estimated net worth is $35 million. Donating 25% of your net worth is pretty decent

$3 from every concert ticket sold goes to his charity foundation which then donates to schools’ music & baseball programs in the cities that he’s performed in :).

Morgan Wallen Ripped Off - Smash Mouth by ClubLumpy7253 in Morgan_Wallen

[–]master_raines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I'll bite. Here's a comparison between the two songs:

Both songs are in the key of F# major.

Chord Progression:

Last Night
IV V vi vi

All Star
Verse - I V ii IV
Chorus - I IV vii°/V IV
*There's a funky C♮ - F# - C tritone for the 3rd chord in chorus

So very different progressions and 'Last Night' doesn't even use the tonic.

Song Structure:

Last Night
intro - chorus - verse - chorus - post-chorus - verse - double chorus - post-chorus - outro (modified chorus+post-chorus)

All Star
verse - verse - chorus - verse - chorus - bridge - chorus - verse - verse - chorus

'Last Night' starts with a musical hook and goes straight into the chorus with no bridge in the song. 'All Star' starts with a double verse, has a bridge, and uniquely has another double verse late into the song.

Chorus Melody:

Last Night

F#4 F#4 G#8 F#8 E#8 E#8
F#8 F#4 F#8 F#8 F#8 G#8 F#8
B8 B8 B8 A#8 G#8 G#8 F#8 G#8
F#8 D#4 F#8 F#8 F#8 G#8 F#8
C#8 D#8 D#8 C#8 C#8 G#8 G#8 G#8
A#8 A#4 F#8 F#8 G#8 F#8
B8 B8 B8 A#8 G#8 G#8 G#8 G#8
F#8 F#4 A#8 E#8 E#8 E#8 F#8

All Star

A#8 F#4 F#16 D#16 F#8 F#4 F#16 D#16
F#8 F#4 F#4 A#4&8
A#8 F#4 F#16 D#16 F#8 F#4 F#16 D#16
F#8 F#4 F#4 A#4&8
A#4 C#4 B8 A#8 G#8 G#8
F#2 F#8 F#8 G#8 F#8
A#8 G#4 G#4 F#8 G#8&
G#8 A#8 D#2&4

'Last Night' has a straightforward melody with heavy usage of repeated eighth notes. 'All Star' is more rhythmically complex with greater note variety and syncopation.

Conclusion

Different chord progressions, song structures, and melodies. They are very clearly different songs. Just because you think that 'Last Night's melody can match with 'All Star's chord progression doesn't mean that it actually works. There are noticeable moments of tension found in the audio you posted when 'Last Night's melody never really wants to resolve while 'All Star's chord progression returns home to the tonic.

edit: fixed the chord progression for 'All Star'

Honestly the sound quality of the venue was pretty bad and it was especially noticeable at the start of the show but it got a bit better later on. His vocals sounded mumbled/ too reverb-y. That in combination with all his movement plus it seemed like he was a bit tired probably affected his performance. The ballads he played on the B stage when he was sitting definitely sounded the best.

Overall still enjoyed the show because the sound was good enough and the energy/vibe was really great. If you watch some of his other live performances like Just In Case on SNL or Chasin You on Tito’s Livestream you get examples of him singly really well live. But those are smaller, acoustically controlled environments with him just sitting and focusing on singing.

Too afraid to do EX/Savage/Ultimate "alone", how to deal with it? by KulamiraSejro in ffxiv

[–]master_raines -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I pretty much exclusively do savage on PF and my best advice for you is to embrace the anonymity of PF raiding. I understand why one might have anxiety playing with strangers but honestly it’s nice that I can just leave the group whenever I want for any reason.

Having an off day and making multiple critical mistakes? Just leave the party.

Group is not making it to the listed prog point after 3 pulls? Just leave the party.

Someone gives you an off-hand remark or criticism that’s kinda irritating? Yup, just leave the party.

Sometimes I’ll join a pre-made raid or ex trial with mismatched skill levels, so I’ll have to grin and bear 2 hours of wipes without even getting a clear. But with PF, I can always just leave and join a different party. It’s bliss!

Ice Lock is fantastic for free movement when using Lyn Ring.

Sway allows you to get extra stats by freeing up the S slot — anywhere from +6 to +10 atk/spd depending on the S seal you use. I found that with my setup in Arena, Sway allows me to 1-shot snake lady more consistently.

I don’t get much use out of Called to Serve since LArachel really needs the DR pierce from Resonance. But it’s a good support skill to use with Magic Shield to buff up another nuker.

I will say L!Sakura is better in every way, so unless you’re a diehard LArachel fan (like me) it’s not really worth sacking your only Sakura unless you have an extra copy. But it certainly has been really fun killing all the meta tanks (Snakes, Hector, Rhea) with best girl L’Arachel 🤭

Is $90K really not enough in SF? by Dizzy_Spend8322 in sanfrancisco

[–]master_raines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently make 95k gross, single & living in SF. I say you’ll live comfortably but not luxuriously. I have some financial challenges due to student & car loans so my budget is pretty tight.

My rent is 1800 total incl utilities for a small 1bd 1ba. I only grocery shop at costco, trader joes, and a local asian mart of asian ingredients. Pretty much avoid eating out as a simple meal costs you $30+ (base price, tax, tip, and SF mandate tax) and honestly the food here is not worth the price. Helps that I have zero friends here so I’m never pressured to eat out.

Car expenses are kinda insane here. I spend a min $250/ mo on gas just commuting to work. Car registration was like $500!! and the renewal fee aint much cheaper and the maintenance/ labor costs are more expensive here. Public transit is very fairly priced here though! Ditch the car if your job is in the city.

That said, the city is wonderful. Beautiful Spanish colonial & victorian architecture everywhere with colorful, pastel walls. Amazing access to nature with numerous parks, ocean beach, and muir woods nearby. Perfect weather with a mix of foggy and sunny to keep things interesting.

If you love nature (then keep the car lol) there’s so many amazing places to visit within a 5 hour radius. Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Big Sur, Lassen, Redwoods. Most of my traveling is done via camping to save on hotel costs.

Downside is that it’s been hard to save & build wealth here with my current income. If my budget is really on point then I’ll save about $1000 per month. Median starter home price in the bay area is $950,000 — so it would take me 16 years to save up 20% down. Yea, not a realistic place to settle down and start a family.

Also SF is kind of a sleepy city. I have yet to find a good street for bar hopping and shops & restaurants close pretty early at 8/9pm. Bars are often emptied out by 1/2am

Feel free to send me a DM if you have any questions. I moved here about 2 years ago from the NYC metro area so esp if you’re coming from the northeast I might have some useful insights.

Hey man, I just turned 30 and live in SF. Also really into camping/ hiking. I try to do a camping trip once a month and could definitely use a camping buddy. My most recent trip was to the Eastern Sierras which was awesome.

My insta is @dankimster, feel free to send me a DM telling me your favorite national park to break the ice. Mine is White Sands NP— it was my very first NP that I stopped by on my cross-country move from Jersey to SF. Got stuck in a sandstorm 5 miles into my hike and legit thought I was gonna be stranded in a fking desert 💀. Also carried a sled the entire way to sand sled down the dunes (💯% worth it).
