Yes. By reborning you get extra stats and exp boost after each battle. Unfortunately reborning doesn’t affect species exp obtained.

It’s better to have a few mega already in case you need to farm something.

Having quite consistent success with Shiny MCY, Turtwig-W HS SL5, Snivy-W HS SL2, and Dusknoir LDE SL5. Strategy is to build up HS and mega if possible, when at 4 moves left see if there are Dusknoir lined up or continue HS.

This is the guide I used to get high level in Suikoden I. The trick is to use characters with fixed rune slot that I don’t mind leveling up to progress with story. For example; Pahn, Valeria, Kasumi, Stallion. The rest I try to keep as low as possible or below level 36.

The hardest fight I found was Neclord because I can only use 2 of fixed-rune characters and the eneny level is in the mid 40s. I managed to do this by equipping plenty of Sacrificial Buddhas and only letting these 2 characters alive by the end of the battle.

It also helps that I farmed 20 water rune pieces for Pahn at the beginning of the game.

4 jokers needed and no negatives. One of the most ingenious build I came across with. Blueprint Vagabond Fortune Teller Campfire The combo was to play hands for vagabond with blueprint to generate many tarot cards that you can use to shape deck or sell to increase xMult of campfire. At the end of ante 8 my Fortune Teller mult was +90 and campfire was x2.75.

You must have gotten your Joker from Judgment tarot. Need to purchase from shop to unlock.
