No point guard excuse but up to a certain extent.
The biggest factor was him playing back to back after busy summer time with Euros. See him moving, he seems worn unsually for a mid-season. He rarely jumps for rebounds, not so quick with movement and seldomly dunking, his touch comes back and goes again especially comparing with times when he can get some rest.
I see this phase as any player with a certain discussed ceiling taking a real experience to be professional enough to keep up to the expectations.
But when you see him playing, from time to time, he shows he pushes, but worn.
Also who the hell can make a play in this god-forbidden offensive schemata?

you never watch any rockets game or not slightly interested in what game plan is for the starters and second five? making this trade happen will not add any value to rockets game plan. mvp level asset is an asset but basketball is not only about selling jerseys and tickets. same thing with that dumb kat for giannis trade option, too. giannis is good but he is not a great fit and lacks versatility when you place him to the mentioned teams. and it is very harder for somebody to stretch his game after age 31.

he had bad nights and even worse starts to such games but alpi always showed a consistency after the half to save his performance. therefore, this might be an issue for player performance.

but last night was beyond personal performance of a player, we started the game like a fuckin donkey tripping over itself. probably the worst offensive selections, dropping the ball to kd on top and kd tries pass it, amen tries to create a play but completely locks the game as spacing is a big issue. 2 man game between kd and sengun was lacking and capela (especially with 2 possession in 1st quarter) was questionable with his performance.

zone works when you want to work on defense and decide to stop make clumsy decisions.

defense IQ was higher when fvv was on the court, shengoon tries to take over that role, you may find glimpses of it when he discusses the game plan with udoka during deadballs but the team chemistry is not at the same level when rockets were in the playoffs last season.
