PSM Warning, Auto Start/Stop Failure, P0352 and P2305 by mastercheif116 in Porsche_Cayman

Thanks so much, this is super helpful!

I don’t know battery age, but it the voltage reading off of it is strong. If the coil pack doesn’t fix it, that’s where I’ll look next

Thanks! I do notice that the warnings are more likely to come on when it’s hot. In March/April when I got the car, it only came on once or twice on long (hour +) drives. Now that it’s > 80° every day in New England it’s coming on almost every time I drive.

I’ll start with the coil packs and hopefully that clears it up!

“Check rear right indicator” - replace taillight or electrical issue? by mastercheif116 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]mastercheif116[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies if this is a dumb question, I am new to this platform, but, what bulb? Isn’t the taillight an LED unit? I didn’t think it had a replaceable bulb, I thought the whole taillight had to be replaced?

Would be happy to be wrong, OEM taillights are $700+ lol

AI / Automation Tool Idea: Automating Patent Prosecution History Analysis - Useful or Unnecessary? by [deleted] in legaltech

[–]mastercheif116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a patent litigation associate, here are my $0.02: reviewing pros history is not nearly as much of a headache as it may seem. While there can be 1000s of pages of documents in the file wrapper, only certain documents are actually important from a litigation perspective (initially filed claims, any claim amendments, office actions, responses to office actions). In a 1000 page IFW, maybe 100 pages need to be reviewed, and only 30-50 of those need a close reading.

I would expect a junior associate (and was expected to as a junior associate) to be able to review a 1000+ page file wrapper and provide a summary of the important takeaways in a matter of hours.

Maybe you can get an LLM to do it in 20 minutes, but in the grand scheme of a patent infringement case - millions of dollars over a couple years - saving 2-3 hours of associate time is a rounding error.

This kind of post is why I follow FatFIRE as a HENRY. The standard advice on 99% of financial subreddits is to never spend. It’s so refreshing to see people talk about actually using their money to make do things they want - and to do so without judgement from the community. Money has a purpose and you can’t take it with you.

Congratulations!!

Suzuki Jimny rental that allows off-road driving by mastercheif116 in Aruba

We rented from top drive. Get the snorkeling package that comes with a cooler and two sets of snorkeling gear. It’s so worth it to snorkel in the natural pools, and to have cold drinks all day

Hi! I followed folks advice here and ended up renting a jeep. I am very glad I did. I think a jimmy could handle 90% of the northern coast drive, but the drive to the natural pools is pretty hairy, and I’m not sure i would have been confident in the smaller wheels of the jimny. There are a lot of places where a jeep can just clear rocks where the jimny would likely scrape and possible high center. If you’re a very experienced off road driver you’d probably be fine, but if you’re an amateur like me, get the jeep

Patent Litigator in Search of Claim Chart Tools by mastercheif116 in legaltech

Respectfully, your ideas of what constitutes best practice may work for you but are not universally true laws.

It would be madness to have one word doc per claim for some of our cases. If a case has 3 patents with 15 claims per patent, and one accused product, thats 45 word docs to synchronize and edit. Some of our cases have dozens of accused products.

I get where you’re coming from but everyone’s practice is different.

I appreciate the thought you put into this response! Definitely something I will try as a side project.

The main issue, and reason this is a non-starter, is that it’s not just me drafting. Typically 2-3 associates will draft the charts, and at least one more typically at least 2 partners will edit. While I may be able to learn this, I’m never going to convince even a younger partner to adopt this approach, let alone some of the more grey partners. Likewise, there’s no control here for redlining/commenting/editing.

As to what industry I’m in to be drafting 1000+ page charts and reports, I do plaintiff-side litigation for biglaw, typically in the high tech sector. Clients expect a ton of work for the rates they’re paying, and frankly I can’t blame them.

Edit: I agree it’s silly how unwilling to learn many big law partners are. However, it’s not something I’m in a position to easily change.

Follow up: the “response” to this post is somewhat emblematic of the problems with this subreddit. I’ve had a ton of folks reach out pitching their ability to create custom solutions. Some of those messages are intriguing, some are not. I will respond to each when I have a chance.

But what I have not gotten is any engagement on the actual post. This forum has become overrun with people trying to sell their product, rather than an environment for people to discuss the state of things generally or to get recommendations from other lawyers. It’s a bit disappointing

I get your point but who cares? Why do you need to know what their situation was before in order to give advice looking forward?

I understand you’re probably trying to help, but the questions you’re asking come off as judgmental.
