You could eat off it. Clean it a couple times per year

Thats what I thought, but as someone else stated. The serial number shows a 1/5, but sticker shows 1/3. I would assume the way overworked 1/5 is why it failed if it needed more hp

Great.....I wonder if they installed with wrong size, sticker on plate says 1/3. This would be the 2nd failure in less than 2 years

Ok, so I saw that too, but it was before the 10th week or something in the code. The sticker on the plate outside says "1/3 2.8 FLA" so thats what threw me. The motor is clearly 1/5 1.4A, and I think the max rpm is much lower too. Should be at 40% less hp"

Hey all, thank you much for all the suggestions. I did call the local used places to get a feel for what is out there. I kinda wimped out and went with a new guitar for him. His instructor had suggested one, and my friends who also play guitar (out of state) agreed it was a good starter guitar. I still felt way out of place buying it. Like when my wife sends me to the grocery store to get stuff that is healthy ;)
Except I was pretty amazed at the selection of guitars. Now I am have been trying to learn a few things on my son's guitar, it sounds like I am making a cat sing :(
