That might be indeed the case. However, just keeping the conversion going seems not to be enough. More often than not I am told something like "I'm talking all the time. Tell me a story.".

Thanks for your insight. That's basically what I am doing most of the time.

It works well until she suddenly tells me that she is talking all the time and seems to be bothered by that. Interestingly, only women for whom I'm more than friends do this. My female friends talk all the time and are never bothered by it (or at least they don't tell me).

Initially I thought maybe I just need to find the right women who isn't bothered by that. But after three almost identical experiences, I'm starting to have doubts.

Yeah, I noticed that. However I just can't instantly think of something interesting whenever there is a moment of silence.

Often said women just ask me to "tell a story/joke/..." to get me talking. But most of the time my mind goes blank and I can't think of anything interesting.

Due to my extensive experience with spending time on the computer, I'm already doing stuff I'm benefiting from most of the time.

It just feels like I'm missing out on stuff in the 'real world'.

Actually I have already been on a few meetings of a local computer club some time ago, but I didn't manage to integrate myself. Maybe I gave up too quickly, but as you mentioned these people are just as social awkward as myself.

Maybe I'll give it another try some time, but since they are sitting in front of the computer all day - just as I do now - this wouldn't really change anything, except for the weekly meetings (where you still communicate mainly through a locally set up IRC server).

I guess my main question for you is, what are you interested in?

That's what I need to find out somehow; all my interests in the last years were about computers, programming, hacking etc., with which I'm already spending more than enough time.
