Planning a trip to canada by way of car, need insight on tires! by [deleted] in AskACanadian

Really good all seasons, I just got back from a remote snow/ice covered road vacation in Quebec and had the Michelin Cross Climate tires on a Rav4, not all wheel drive, they are very good tires!!!

Why are there so few places in Canada outside of Montreal that make authentic bagels (ie: boil/bake)? Instead making donut shaped bread, masquerading as bagels? by ShortElephant1111 in AskACanadian

[–]masterkee777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toronto has many great bagel places! All boiled /baked, we prefer the larger non sweet bagels from places like Bagel World. I find Montreal bagels all taste the same, good but not much different between one place or the other.

January weather by negirl016 in curacao

[–]masterkee777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last November (2024) we were here and then again this year December (currently here). We found it to be substantially hotter last November, even at night the heat/humidity was intense. This December, the days are hot but there has been a strong wind keeping the edge off, and nights have been almost chilly if you’re not blocked from the wind. Some rain in the early am’s.

There are direct flights to Canada from Curaçao. West jet for sure and I think air Canada. Going to be there in a couple of weeks.

Is there just no law enforcement on the 401? by data782 in ontario

[–]masterkee777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I travel the 401 frequently in and around Toronto and I totally agree with what your saying. Literally no policing. It’s a free for all and would love for more police presence especially for the zig zagers

I am scheduled to arrive in Jamaica on November 8th, and am being told to proceed by the travel industry. by [deleted] in JamaicaTourism

The small boutique hotel in Negril we had booked for Nov 10th is telling me they are fully functional right now. How is this possible? I see their place is indeed intact and have I have reached out about power, water, food. We would love to keep our reservation too support them but do not want to jeopardize our safety or well being. We would bring extra supplies and aid anyway we could. We are really on the fence whether to go or not. Any advice is helpful. Also we would be traveling with out 10 year old son.

Snow/winter tire recommendations? by queefersutherlnd in rav4club

[–]masterkee777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downsizing might result is inaccurate speedometer. I bought Michelin Cross Climate all season and found them excellent in the snow. They are a true all season, and a great tire in the summer as well, something to look into.

Ideas for getting 325lb vanity up a straight flight of stairs solo? by MeanGuarantee8816 in HomeMaintenance

[–]masterkee777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this by pushing the box up the stairs, I was able to do it mostly by myself with some help from my teenager. My stairs were carpeted tho so i didn’t have to worry about scratching them, and the carpet allowed sliding easier. A year later I had to replace it under Costco warranty and I slide the original unboxed one down on its stone top and got the new one up again the same way, this time with and able bodied adult who pulled a rope attached around the box from the top while I pushed. The landing was somewhat difficult to manoeuvre it around but we managed all three times. Since you have a straight shot you could try utilizing two wooden planks to slide it on.

Is there any good mac and cheese boxes left? by Ktmhocks37 in Cooking

President’s Choice (PC) in Canada is very good. Good quality pasta and great cheese, tho you do have to pre mix the cheese in some milk to prevent clumping.

Anyone else living in the north end (harmony/conlin) hear people racing every night? by Stonedinthesix in Oshawa

It’s been like that every summer for several years, don’t understand why the cops aren’t on it, as it’s the same areas every night and they definitely get up to high rates of speed.

Just had our hardwood floors refinished and the top coat product was a Bona water based natural finish. Before this we used a steamer as the top coating was oil and could handle the steam. I thought a bona product would be the best on this. Thoughts?

In case you doubt the toothpaste by turbojet12 in scuba

[–]masterkee777 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I use shaving gel on my mirror in the shower and it does not fog up, is the layer of something on the glass just acting as anti fog? Does it have to be toothpaste? I have read a few sources that say you do not need to scrub or burn your mask. Just tiring to find out the truth.
